SystemRescueCd is a Linux distro on LiveCD to repair your system and recover your data after a disaster. It also tries to provide an easy way to carry out administration tasks on your computer, like creating and editing partitions, etc. |
It does not have the friendliest interface in the world and it is not designed to function as a complete operating system, but it works perfectly for what it was created: to get you out of trouble..
It contains a ton of system utilities (parted, partimage, fstools, ...) and basic (editors, midnight commander, network tools). It is very easy to handle: you start it from the CD-ROM, and it lets you do everything. The system kernel supports the most important file systems (ext2 / ext3, reiserfs, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, iso9660), and network ones (Samba and NFS). SystemRescueCd is based on the Gentoo Live CD.
