Testing Firefox 8.0a1

Recently many sites like Engadget echoed the news that a developer of Mozilla found the solution to do what Firefox consume fewer resources in our system GNU / Linux.

The guilt of excessive consumption of Firefox it was always from the motor JavaScript, which mismanaged memory, and there were "pieces" with data without erasing that could not be released and that accumulated with each open tab. This will be corrected from version 7 of the browser, which I can test by downloading it from this link.

But I always like to go further and I downloaded the latest available version of Firefox (aka Nightly) which is currently numbered 8.0a1.

Firefox 8.0a1

Since we start the browser we can realize that it is much faster. Further, Firefox joins the club of «hide the http and highlight the domain»In the address bar. Memory consumption remains slightly above the 100Mb when we open more than one tab and it is loading, but it immediately decreases when we close them or the site has loaded completely.

In the interface there is nothing new to contribute and it remains similar to previous versions. Until now Firefox It has not been unstable at all, nor has it hung up on me even playing flash videos, so I recommend its use (always at your own risk).
