TextMate 2 is distributed under the GPL 3 license

Users OS X, or at least those who have used this Operating System, will know that one of the best (not to say the best) code editors that exist for this platform is TextMate 2.

Well it turns out that its creator has decided release a large part of the source code of the licensed application LPG 3, so the code can be distributed and modified always acknowledging the original author, responding in this way, that he does not agree with the restrictive policies of Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), which limits the capabilities of applications distributed through the Mac App Store. The entire core of the application has not yet been released, but the developers have ensured that in a short time we will be able to have it under a less restrictive license.

However, for GNU / Linux we have some more than decent proposals in front of TextMate 2 as they can be: Sublime Text, scribes o Kate, I particularly with the latter, I am left over 😀

Mhh osx seems like a great platform for the user but really bad for development, but hey ..

I like that there are more codes and maybe more options for our friend the penguin, in the end MAC OS is the black sheep of Unix hahaha

There are really many good text editors, but once I saw a video by Fabian Potencier, the creator of Symfony, who was making a shopping cart web app and for that he was using text mate…. and the code completion that made me almost drool ... well, I really want to have a version for linux.

I think you can have it with Sublime Text, which is paid, but it has a version that you can try for life 😀

What is not the same function that other editors like Geany and Bluefish have?

At the moment I have only used notepad ++ and gedit, but now that I see sublime text, and text mate, I am missing out on good editors….

By any chance someone does not know the type of font or letter, or font of the screen shot that is shown?

    Thank you!!!
