Best Linuxero Desktop: December 2013

At the request of the public, here is a new call to participate in our monthly competition. The idea is very simple: share a screenshot of your desktop on our social networks and show the world that Linux can also be obtained luxurious and visually appealing desks. Mint or Ubuntu? Debian or Fedora? Arch or openSUSE? ¿Which distros will appear in our Top this month? The best 10 captures will appear in a special post on the 15th of each month.

Last month's winner: Boris Dimael Vasquez

Distro: eOS x64
Dock: Planck
CoverGloobus: Music
Conky: Conky Vision
Icons: Pacifica
Wallpaper
Also: Winpanel-slim, icons aligned to the left, and modified CoverGloobus skin

How to participate

  1. Get a screenshot of the desktop. To do this, you can use the PrintScreen key (or PrtSc, on English keyboards). It is also possible to use specialized tools, such as Shutter.
  2. Share the capture on our social networks. The different possibilities are:

What should i include

The following should be included as a minimum:

  • 1 desktop capture
  • Distribution
  • Desktop environment
  • Theme
  • Icons
  • desktop wallpaper

It is also recommended to include any description about widgets or other applications used (Conky theme, etc.).

Selection criteria for the top 10 of the month

Generally speaking, the originality, creativity and overall aesthetics of the desktop will be judged.

Although the opinion of our followers will be taken into account, expressed in the amount of +1 o I like it that each catch can accumulate, the selection criteria will be broader:

  • Amount of +1 o I like it
  • Does it include a detailed description so that it can be "copied"?
  • It will try to select diverse desktop environments and distributions

This means that this contest does not automatically reflect the preference of our followers and, eventually, some captures with fewer votes but with a very detailed description (including links, etc.) or that involve little known desktops and / or distributions may appear in the top 10.

Please read the conditions and selection criteria of the contest carefully before commenting or participating.

This same competition will be repeated every month.

The results will be published at the end of the month.

Hello @elav, I wanted to tell you about a small topic and since I don't know how to send MPs from DesdeLinux I am writing to you from this comment 🙂

I have been the main administrator of the blog "DEB Libre" (deb-libre.blogspot.com.ar) but due to lack of time and other things (internal problems) I am thinking of joining this page as a poster.

I also have a PPA repository in charge for Ubuntu 12.04 and derivatives but I thought it would be better if I changed the name (since as I said before... I come from DEB LIbre so the ppa is: ppa:libredeb/precisedeb) Maybe it's nonsense (something unimportant) but I think it would be better if it were called something else (I thought of, for example: ppa:desdelinux/precise).

This is because I generally package new software to share with the community so I could advertise this great BLOG through the packages leaving a simple and subtle slogan. » <" DesdeLinux ".

If you agree or have any recommendations, I will be attentive. Thanks for your attention ... a huge greeting!

It's a good idea to join Desde Linux. Something similar happened to me at the time. Regarding packaging, it would be good if you could write to us at staff (at) desdelinux.net so that we can discuss it between the 3 admins, but in principle it seems to me that there would be no problem.
        Hug! Paul.

Well, I join Pablo's comment. You are more than welcome, but it would only be to have the approval of KZKG ^ Gaara, because for me, there is no problem either. 😉

        regards

Although I am tempted to share my desktop, I fear that its lack of originality determines that it will be ignored. The only striking thing that I have is the wallpaper.

Ha! We will take it into account ... 🙂

There are flavors… I don't like to customize my desktop (Gnome on Debian)
And as I have noticed, almost all Linux users have a 'weakness' for doing it ... WILL I ALSO BE UNIQUE IN THIS?

    1.    let's use linux said

      It's a matter of taste ... right?

    2.    eliotime3000 said

With a good wallpaper, it might make a difference.

I already left my desk in the corresponding section in the community in G +, to see how it goes this time, although I anticipate a couple of days to post something to share, I hope you like it =)

It did not quite convince me at all, more than anything not because of the elements on the desk but because of its placement, there is something with which I am not totally comfortable ...
