The latest from this week's <th Forum

Well, I think it's time to start doing the digests for the community forum, so you can have an overview of what is going best today in the forum.

OK lets start:

Between the damn webcam and Linux

A topic created by me to see if anyone knew what the hellish problem with the webcam was; could be solved, although not too well in Ubuntu ...

Tor browser in Chakra?

To those who want to handle safe navigation and have chakra, here you have a good question resolved. Posted by user Copy

Install updated firefox and thunderbird on Debian

Theme made by jony127, which in fact solves your question quite well and many will appreciate it.

About

Another topic created by me, this one to clarify some things about what a desdelinux service could be ...

Repair GRUB

Surely many (including me) have killed the GRUB trying to do dualboot's and who knows what else, because this will surely get their leg out of the mud ... theme created by Alebils

What about flash? Family drama

User Darzee had a difficult time with Ubuntu and Flash, and we have not been able to fix the problems; although we are advancing… Will you help him?

I intend to make these posts weekly with the topics that look more interesting or urgent to deal with, and if it's not me, I hope someone else will do them if I can't ... Good luck to everyone and until a next post.

It doesn't give much information. It would seem very strange to me that Flash does not work in Google Chrome. It says that it reinstalled Ubuntu but it does not say if it has cleared the browser configuration (in the "home"). A clean installation shouldn't be a problem.

On the flash page it says: If you are using the Google Chrome browser, Adobe® Flash® is built in but has been disabled.
and I suppose that this deactivating flash in chrome by default is recent so I think it is likely that in some update flash was deactivated.

I think that deleting the Flash settings (/home/usuario/.adobe/Flash_Player/) and / or those of the browser that gives problems solves (reinstalling). If it fails in all browsers it must be a problem with the Flash plugin. If it only happens in one it must be because of the configuration of that browser.
And as a last solution, a clean installation (removing the previous home) fixes it.

I forgot, you also have to delete: /home/usuario/.macromedia/Flash_Player/ (as advised in the forum).

It worked for me, but it looks disgustingly waxy and pixelated ...

You forgot the basic protocol for solving hardware problems. What is the make and model of the webcam?

      2.    Javier said

Mine too but I blame the model, it is a VGA camera.

The grub thing is interesting, but let me say that if the user goes with friendly distros like chakra, linuxmint, debian, ubuntu, opensuse, fedora and others, I don't think he has problems….

And if you use gentoo, arch, slackware has good documentation that is not wasted ...

Another thing is that we touch or erase things that we do not know what they are for and there we have already done it….

(But come on, the latter can happen to any gnu / linux, bsd, windows or mac user, amen !!!)

I know a few Windows users who delete programs without knowing what they are (for example graphics card driver, wireless and then:

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise gives you life !!!

    😉

Then I drop my phrase In linux it doesn't happen to you 😉

«Courage» Because I always see you in windows, I don't know why I would swear that you are more from arch than from any other gnu / linux distro ...

        Although ranting is free….
