The new Neptune 5.6 update is now ready

Recently Leszek Lesner announced the launch of the new Neptune 5.6 update, the latest stable version of this Linux distribution.

For those readers who still do not know the system I can tell you that Neptune OS is a GNU / Linux distribution based on Debian 9.0 ('Stretch') that features the KDE Plasma desktop environment.

Neptune focuses on providing an elegant experience on the system, having multimedia applications as a primary focus.

This update is a refresh of the Neptune 5 ISO file, so installing or reinstalling Neptune doesn't need to download tons of updates.

In this new update release we can find that hardware support has improved through Linux kernel 4.18.6 with bug fixes and especially new features added to it.

DDX drivers were updated for AMD / ATI and Intel for Table 18.1.9. X-Server has received an update to version 1.19.6, which fixes many bugs and improves speed.

Other important changes in this version are the system update to version 239 and the KDE applications to version 18.08.2.

Regarding network management, Network-manager received an update With which we can find the network administrator in version 1.14 to improve the stability and speed of the WiFi network.

And on the side of the desktop environment we can highlight that Plasma Desktop has been updated to version 5.12.7.

These updates benefited Krunner to enable the configuration of web shortcuts and its options for plug-in spell checking.

SFTP connections through KIO are now more stable and reliable, even after reconnecting to a device.

Regarding web browsing Chromium was updated and we can find it in its version 70 which offers speed improvements and security bug fixes.

The email client had to be updated to its Thunderbird 60.2 version to improve security and above all apply some patches to various security errors found.

The distribution office suite LibreOffice is now available in version 6.1.3 with which we can take advantage of all its features and options that this update of Branch 6.x offers us

WiFi Firmware received an update to improve speed, stability, and support for new WiFi chipsets.
