Sockets for CPUs to be kept, say Intel and AMD

AMD & Intel

Following up on post that we published a few days ago about Intel's abandonment of LGA-packaged CPUs, today we update the situation, with what seems to be good news:

Last day 4, TechReport echoed statements by Chris Hook, AMD's Chief Product Opinion Officer and Chief Communications Officer, in which he assured that AMD would keep mounting CPUs in sockets and that "that will continue through 2013 and 2014 with 'Kaveri' APUs and 'FX' lines of CPUs. Good from AMD, bringing some peace of mind to its users and reaching out to potential Intel customers.

Well, according to one noticia appeared two days ago in Maximum PC, finally Intel broke the silence, ensuring that it will continue to offer socket CPUs for the "foreseeable future," in the words of Intel spokesman Daniel Snyder, who said that "... even though Intel does not comment on long-term product plans ...", "Intel is remains committed to growing desktop and channel enthusiasts and will continue to offer parts in LGA packaging… »

With these statements Intel tries to calm the tempers heated by what has been revealed and supposedly confirmed on the subject and to avoid other possible speculations that erode its popularity among the enthusiasts of "Do it yourself". What many are now wondering is: what exactly does "foreseeable future" mean for Intel? Hopefully time will answer this question for the benefit of users, I will at least keep up to date.

The safest thing is that when they saw the reactions of many users they thought twice.

I think they have stood still for fear of the reactions that users have had ...

As I read I do not remember where, apparently LGA was going to be maintained ONLY in high-end CPUs, but I repeat, I read it out there.

Well, I am behind the source of some rumors in the Hackintosh community about the possible purchase of AMD by Apple, since the latter want to manufacture their CPUs and say goodbye to those of Intel. The first rumor is to move to the Soc architecture which in turn is based on ARM, and the other is to buy AMD and take advantage of both CPU and GPU manufacturing (the latter has given them good results in their gadgets).

If these rumors are true then "They catch us confessed."

That IS to worry, for now I am going to start looking for information and keep up to date; I hope and it is only a rumor because if true it would be fatal for everyone.

Well, if they do, the moment is now that amd is lazy. But it gives me that they are going to shoot for arm that will give them more joy on mobile and tablet.
