Top new GNU/Linux Distros to be recognized: 2024 – Part 14
For this beginning of the month (September 2024), as has become customary, we offer you a new publication from our current series of publications called “Top New GNU/Linux Distros”, which corresponds to the Fourteenth Post (Part 14). And in it, we will address 2 more new and interesting alternatives of free and open operating systems. Which already appear in la DistroWatch waitlist for the month of September 2024 and are the following: AnduinOS, eLxr and DebLight OS. Although, we will also take the opportunity to mention other equally interesting ones.
Let us remember that GNU/Linux and *BSD distros addressed in this series of publications, await their fair recognition within DistroWatch, to then be disseminated as modern, complete and stable projects. Therefore, with this new contribution, we hope to continue promoting the knowledge (dissemination and promotion) of these and other New and interesting free and open source GNU/Linux distribution projects.

- Base:Debian.

- Primary use: According to its developers, it is ideal for professional IT users and companies looking for reliable and innovative solutions that scale from the edge to the cloud.
- Actual state: It is a recent and innovative operating system that seeks to offer a base stable, reliable, and supported by Debian-based commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware that meets the requirements of near-edge servers. Therefore, in short, it is an open source, freely accessible, innovative Debian that is fully ready for edge to cloud workloads.
- brief description: It is an operating system whose objective is deliver an enterprise-grade Debian distribution with intelligent edge capabilities, but with a well-optimized edge-to-cloud deployment approach. In addition, he handles efficiently the unique challenges of near-edge networks and workloads.

DebLight OS

- Latest released versions: DebLight OS, released on October 3, 2024.
- Base: Debian / LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Environment).

- Desktops (DE/WM): LXDE.
- Primary use: According to its developers, it is ideal for users who want a lightweight and minimalist work environment, and highly adaptable to individual needs and preferences. What makes it suitable for both beginners and experienced computer users, and even for organizations that prefer to update their computer equipment rather than replacing it all too often, due to planned obsolescence.
- Actual state: It is a very recent operating system with little history and visible information, so, for now, it is advisable to test it on VM or a secondary or rarely used computer.
- brief description: It is an operating system that aims to be a fast and easy-to-use desktop-oriented operating system, based indirectly on LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Environment) and intentionally on LXDE. And it seeks to provide users with a set of dedicated utilities and specific optimizations, combined with an emphasis on providing access to a productive system that is easy and lightweight.
