Today, March 5, 2025, as has become customary month after month, we offer you a new publication in our current series of publications called “Top New GNU/Linux Distros”, which corresponds to the third publication (part 03) of this current year. And in it, we will address 3 new and interesting or little-known alternatives to free and open distributions (operating systems) within the vast Linuxverse. But, unlike previous opportunities, 2 of those we will mention today do not yet appear in the DistroWatch waitlist and only one appears and we will address it again, since the project has changed a lot since more than a year ago. And these are the following: Linux, Oreon and Loongnix OS Blows.

oreon Linux has a primary goal to make RHEL/AlmaLinux more suitable for use on desktops and laptops. Therefore, it focuses on providing the best user experience right out of the gate. And to do so, it also seeks to build and offer as many additional packages as possible to make the largest repository of software compared to other RHEL-based distributions.

As of today, when we write this publication (05/03/2025), it is important to highlight that, The only additional distribution that we have been able to know, inside and outside the known Linuxverse (mainly the DistroWatch OS.Watch and FossTorrents websites) is Runtu Linux. Which is one that we have mentioned specifically on previous occasions, but never addressed in a single publication.
However, it is a GNU/Linux distribution of Russian origin that is based on Ubuntu/Debian, and therefore offers very complete support for the Russian language, as well as a variety of extra applications, tools and multimedia codecs for ideal use on desktop computers, both at home and in the office. And its development is stable and well active, with the latest version available being the following: Runtu LITE 22.04x64 of the month of January 2023.
