We have already commented on several occasions the operating system Mozilla is working on, Firefox OS. For all those who are curious, as well as for developers to have a simple test environment, now you can test firefox OS like a extension of the navigator with r2d2b2g. Therefore it is installed like any other extension in Firefox. |
At the moment there are no terminals in which to test this project, but it is possible to take a look at the current interface and features of Firefox OS through various test environments such as B2G Desktop, B2G emulators and even the responsive layout view of the latest versions of Firefox.
However, there is another way to test Firefox OS: among the catalog of add-ons of the Firefox browser there is a way to access B2G Desktop. To do this, simply install r2d2b2g, an experimental sandbox prototype for Firefox OS.
r2d2b2g includes the B2G Desktop, in addition to adding menus to Firefox to be able to access the test environment and install applications on it. With r2d2b2g, starting the B2G Desktop is just a matter of selecting Tools> B2G Desktop.
To install an app on B2G Desktop (for example, this page), just navigate to it in Firefox, and then select Tools> Install Page as App.
r2d2b2g will install the app and start B2G Desktop. The app should appear in one of the list of apps (you have to do a little browsing to find it). Once launched, the app can be viewed the way it will appear to Firefox OS users.
Installation
It is worth noting that r2d2b2g is an experiment, not a final product. It is not stable or complete, and its features and options may change over time. It is also possible that the project is finalized after having learned what can be done about it.
