Tryton 5.6 with improvements to modules, export, web interface and more

Several days ago the release of the new version of Tryton 5.6 was announced, in which various improvements to the modules were implemented among other things. For those unfamiliar with Tryton should know that is integrated management software (also known as PGI or ERP) is a general high-level computing platform in three layers and general purpose on which a business solution (ERP) is developed through the Tryton modules.

This application is written primarily in the Python programming language and it also consists of some JavaScript, Tryton is cross-platform and distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) V3.

The Tryton is organized in a three-layer architecture, which are composed as follows:

  • Desktop - The Tryton Client
  • Web - The Tryton server
  • Script - Database that can mainly be PostgreSQL or SQLite.

Triton handles the following in a modular way:

  • Accounting and analytical accounting
  • Sales administration
  • Purchasing administration
  • Inventory management
  • Project and time management
  • Calendar management

What's new in Tryton 5.6?

In this new version, various improvements were made to the application modules, as well as new ones.

Of those already existing, It is highlighted that in the purchase, sales and third party forms, have been added 'link buttons, these buttons show the number of records to which they are linked and open a view on them.

During transitions in the purchasing, sales and production modules, totime it is possible to save the name of the employee responsible for these status changes (estimate, confirmation, start of production, etc.), this helps to identify the manager in the problem event.

While the new modules added were the following:

  • Cash rounding: more and more European countries impose rounding the final amounts to five cents, this module allows defining by currency the rounding to be carried out in the final amounts, sales and customer invoices have their total rounded if the option is activated: purchase and supplier invoices can be configured on a case-by-case basis.
  • Production of sales supplies: this module completes the series of supplies for sale, it allows activating a production order per line of product sold; Therefore, the production will be linked to a specific sale and not grouped.

Another change that is implemented in this new version is in the CSV export, in it a new functionality has been added that allows export of all listed records it is also possible to get a secure URL linked to the export.

In the web client, lists now have infinite scrolling, the client automatically loads the next block of records and therefore no longer needs to click on the "More" button.

There have been many improvements in the cost price calculation, an automatic task recalculates the cost price of an item if necessary.

Tryton can now use WeasyPrint (if present) for converting reports in HTML to PDF format, Weasyprint provides better rendering in this case than LibreOffice, which is the default tool.

In addition, Stripe payments can now be fully or partially refunded from the Tryton interface, this avoids having to give too many employees access to the Stripe panel.
