Within days of the Ubuntu 12.04 release, Mark Shuttleworth announced in his blog that Ubuntu 12.10 will be named "Quantal Quetzal". |
The Quetzal is a bird belonging to the Trogonidae family, found in the tropical regions of America. The word "quetzal" was originally used only for the Resplendent Quetzal, Pharomachrus mocinno, the famous long-tailed quetzal of Central America, which is the symbolic bird of the Republic of Guatemala. The Aztecs and the Mayans worshiped the quetzal as the god of the air.
