Ubuntu 17.10 needs all of us to help test it

It's been a few months since we published the opinion article And colorín colorado, Ubuntu from Unity 8 has been spared where we gave our impressions about him abandoning Unity 8 by Ubuntu. Time has passed and the decision to adopt again Gnome as desktop environment By default it has brought with it a new version of the favorite distro of many, which is distributed in a development version called Ubuntu 17.10 Artful Ardvark.

The stable version of Ubuntu 17.10 will be released on October 19, 2017, so the development team of this distro needs all of us to help test the development version and report any anomalies that are found, in addition to those suggestions that allow for the date to have a stable and efficient version.

I think the Ubuntu team has done a great job by already having a development version of their distro despite the short time they have had to change the desktop environment, they will often release new development packages that they want users to help with. improve and test.

What is Ubuntu 17.10 Artful Aardvark?

In the latest version of the famous Ubuntu distro, which is full of changes, the most important being the replacement of the Unity desktop environment by Gnome, it will be released in its stable version in mid-October of this year, where it will fight to maintain to the users it has collected over time and aims to attract new users given the addition of Gnome.

This version comes equipped with the GDM access manager, the nautilus file manager, a renewed software center, it will use wayland as a graphical server, appearance changes, a large number of installed applications, support for various architectures and many other features. Ubuntu 17.10

What is the best way to help the Ubuntu 17.10 team?

The Ubuntu team has made a detailed entry on their blog where they indicate the most efficient way to collaborate by testing the daily versions of the distro, it is published here..

In general, these daily versions of Ubuntu 17.10 seek to test and test the new functionalities in isolation, it is not recommended that the distro be used in a production environment and the tests that point to the compatibility of external hardware are mainly sought.

The first tests that we must carry out is starting with Wayland and verifying the normal startup of the OS, then we can do connection tests, test hardware, test the tools among others. Whenever a bug is found, it can be reported in a simple way and the team will be enormously grateful.

Problems with some Wi-Fi cards have already been reported, so it is important that we do all the necessary tests with the hardware that we have at hand, in order that the stable version of the tool is compatible with the majority.

We hope you enjoy this development release and help this great Ubuntu 17.10 team bring us a stable, fast, beautiful, and efficient roster.

Greetings, I use Linux Mint Mate, it works very well on my computer, previously I used Ubuntu, but when I changed to the Unity graphical environment my computer was very slow, I suppose it is due to the video, now with the change to Gnome 3, which can say now about that, as far as video requirements, they will be higher, lower

I do not think it does. Since Ubuntu 5.04 I think I have downloaded all the betas and used all the versions until 16.10 came out. Since the 14.10 I have seen how the system works worse every day, the 16.04 does not even last 20 minutes without freezing due to nouveau / Nvidia or whatever it is that blocks the graphics and my pc, and the 16.10 even worse. I'm tired of feeling like a permanent beta tester.

Wayland does not work with Nvidia graphics, at least in Ubuntu 17.10 ... It seems that by this time Canonical was right to complain about Wayland's immaturity.

Ubuntu is more finished every day ... slow, bloated, and always full of controversy.

I installed Ubuntu 17.10 and my notebook won't shut down, it locks up.
It only turns off if I disconnect the wireless network.
Anyone have any solutions for this problem?
