ubuntu-18.04-lts-1

We previously announced that Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Bionic Beaver will make its appearance on February 7; however, Canonical announcement that it will be delayed until Valentine's Day due to a startup error.

Canonical's Adam Conrad announced a couple of days ago via email that the second maintenance update was delayed until February 14th due to a critical boot-up issue caused by Linux Kernel version 4.18.

The error happens when, after updating to linux-image-4.18.0-14, the system freezes at startup, right on the line «Starting Load / Save RF Kill Switch Status…«, Although some users managed to enter when returning to the kernel linux-image-4.18.0-13.

“Don't take this as an opportunity to fix your bugs, but if you've seen something you need to test that would be critical to boot / install the system, please update now so we can handle the iterations and make sure 18.04.2 is as good as possible. bright as alwaysConrad mentions in an email to the developers.

Ubuntu is the second maintenance and security update in the Ubuntu 18.04 series and is the first to update the kernel and graphics. Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS will have the Ubuntu 18.10 kernel and graphics.

Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS will have a fresh installation media for those who want to install the system from scratch without having to download hundreds of packages afterwards. Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS users will only need to upgrade to get Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS.

The truth is that I have many problems with Ubuntu 18.04.2 Lts on my 5 Ghz i3.40 (8 Gb RAM). I don't know if it's because of the PC, some problem with any of the hard drives. Inkscape or Gimp constantly closes me so that it does not let me work with these programs. I don't understand what it can be. I'm just waiting to update to 19.04 or go back to 16.04 I don't know….

I send (automatic) reports and update regularly but the problem persists. It's a shame.
