Ubuntu users already account for 1,12% of Steam users

The first effects of the campaign are felt Valve: just over 1% of users of Steam they use Linux, more specifically, Ubuntu.

The latest survey indicates that Windows is still the absolute king on Steam, but little by little it is losing some ground.

  • Windows 7: 69,73%
  • Windows XP: 10,05%
  • Windows 8: 8,76%
  • Windows Vista: 6,02%
  • OS X: 3,56%
  • Ubuntu: 1,12%

Will Ubuntu be able to exceed the percentage of Mac OS X users? Surely, that will depend on the progress made by the Steam client for Linux, which is currently in the beta development phase.

There is no doubt that 2013 is going to be an important year for Valve. Not only has it launched a client for Linux, but it plans to launch its own Linux-based console, which will be a major change in the console market.

You party for nothing, believe me that we know perfectly well that the percentage of users at least in this reality will not exceed that of winbugs, but you will not let me lie that the good reception that steam is having, but if you consider that it is a beta, it is good, If it weren't for the fact that winbugs is installed by default on a new PC, the numbers would be different, but that's something else.
    Good morning 😀

I think that "losing some ground" is something stupid, don't you think? At the moment your real competition is OS X, not Windows. It is a step, but I doubt that in the short term game developers will strive for Linux, they are objective, porting a game to Linux is very difficult, even for Mac OS X it is and that there are more users than Linux

Just look at the future is windows 8, sight and soon it will not happen anymore so those people will go to win8 or win7, but personally I would worry about 1% in such a short time the truth, surely that of one and the other form those percentages will change by growing another and decreasing the others.
