Updated hardware for Debian mirror

Article taken from Debian news site.

The project Debian is pleased to announce that the hardware used by ftp.debian.org thanks to the help of Studenten Net Twente (SNT) and HP. The new computer is a Intel Xeon 8-core with 48 Gb of memory and a total of 6 TB (in RAID 10) of local storage. The new server is hosted at the facilities of the University of Twente by the group Student Net Twente, who generously also kept the previous hardware on which it works ftp.debian.org.

The number of new architectures added to Debian Recently and the fact that support for non-linux kernel operating systems is now also provided, caused us to run out of space on the old computer. This new machine should give us enough space for a few years said Martin Zobel-Helas, a member of the system administrators team at Debian. Host hardware Debian at the University of Twente has a long tradition for the project Debian.Martin added.

At SNT, our slogan is "making the network work!" And that is exactly what we are doing by providing Debian with extra hosting and bandwidth in the Netherlands. SNT has been using Debian since 1996 for all servers that handle the network and other services and so we are happy to host `kassia`, the Netherlands FTP server (` ftp.nl.debian.org`) and now this new one. klecker server said Tjerk Jan of SNT.

Cool right? Hopefully and someday

Hehe, right, there are already boards with support for 2 processors (field dominated by intel) http://intel.ly/zxq7NE, but with 8 cores (16 threads of processes) it is an O_O machine now with 16 cores ...
