VALVe opens the Community for GNU / Linux and launches the closed Beta

VALVE, the company behind Steam has opened the community dedicated to the users of the OS of the penguin.
In this community you can find out the latest news, comment on the forum, chat or upload videos and captures.
Aside the Closed beta It has already been released and it includes:

  • El also information of Steam
  • A game of VALVE
  • Support for Ubuntu 12.04 or higher

You can read more information at http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/linux/beta-late-than-never-3
Those of us who use other distros (as in my case Arch Linux) will have to wait, although in one of the open threads in the community forum (which at the time of writing this article is close to 3000 members) where one launched The typical question of which distro uses each one, there are many users who say they use other distro such as Arch or Mint, which does but increase the expansion that VALVe supports for more distros.
You don't know, but I'm already looking forward to the public Beta coming out to install it on my distro 😀

The community can be found in http://steamcommunity.com/games/221410 you can find me how son_link.
See you on Steam ^^

Updated: It is now possible to sign up for the Beta. You just have to go to this page.
You just have to log in to Steam and fill in the requested data, such as distribution, graphics, cpu, RAM, etc.
Say that it is a selection process, so if we are chosen they will notify us through our account. If a server enters, assume that I will do a review review

The thing is… support for Ubuntu 12.10? I think they make the mistake of not offering support for Ubuntu 12.04, this being an LTS

On the Valve blog it clearly states

      * Support for Ubuntu 12.04 and above

A slip when translating it 😛

I agree with you nano…. if you are going to use Ubuntu at least put an LTS which is what makes the most sense.

The initial support for Ubuntu was to be expected since it is the most used distro. What I don't understand is why they use version 12.10 and not 12.04 ...

Registration for the public Beta has been open since last night, anyone can sign up, you just have to fill out a questionnaire about the components of the equipment that we are going to use, our distribution, graphical environment, type of controllers that we prefer (private or free) and how long we have been using GNU / Linux
