Variety: tool to change wallpapers automatically

Variety allow rotate that wallpapers from KDE, GNOME, Ubuntu, LXDE or XFCE automatically, downloading images from a good variety of popular sites such as Flickr, Wallpapers.net, Wallbase.cc, NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day, etc.


The application is responsible for downloading new wallpapers from sites such as Wallbase.cc, Flickr, Wallpapers.net, Desktoppr.co and the NASA photo of the day site, in addition to any other site where media can be published through syndication services (RSS) such as deviantART, SmugMug, and Picasa.

In addition to downloading the images, Variety has the peculiarity that it can apply various effects to them and give our desktop a unique touch.

This Ubuntu application works with the most common desktop environments today such as GNOME, KDE and LXDE, and it also has a Unity integration.

Installation

En Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: peterlevi / ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install variety

En Arch and derivatives:

yaourt-S variety

    Fedora does not have it, the one I installed was Wallch, but I had to put OpenSuse repositories in Fedora, specifically Ayatana's.
    I suppose that if I make a script to download images or download one and combine it with wallch it will do something similar.
