LOVE: Virtual pet for your KDE

We already talked to you a while ago about oneko, an application that allowed us to have a virtual pet (cat, tiger, dog, etc.) on our desktop, as well as Macopix, another virtual pet but in this case of female characters from manga / anime.

This time I will talk about another option that those of us who use KDE have, which although it has its differences with the aforementioned, it is still an option for those who like to have animated characters walking on their desktop.

LOVE installation

To install it in ArchLinux we must put the following in the terminal:

sudo pacman -S kdetoys-amor

In Debian, Ubuntu and derivatives it would be:

sudo apt-get install amor

Then we can search for it in the applications menu, or execute it using Alt + F2

About love

The name of the application is AMOR, they are acronyms that mean in Spanish (Entertaining Waste of Resources). Developed with KDE in mind and specifically with Kwin, shows us a singular and interesting character on the edges of the main window, in which we are working.

The character can vary, or rather, we can configure or specify which one we want to be shown, since we have a small panel of options for it: love-config

Here is a screenshot of the ghost walking across my desk:

I regret the absence of any character that is (or at least looks like) a hamster, so far I have not found any application of this type that is a hamster, and neither is one of these a replacement for a tamagotchi, which I know Many of us still want to have one of these and remember old times 😀

Conclusions on LOVE

Macopix It is in my opinion who has the best graphics, but its mobility is somewhat limited. Oneko it runs all over our desk, but the characters become a bit ... simple? The point is that over time they become a bit boring, the same thing happens with LOVE, over time it stops being funny.

This I imagine because our interaction as users with the virtual pet is limited, not enough, Pou is an excellent example of what many (and I include myself) would like to have in Linux, a pet that is in our repository, let's install and run on our desktop and we can interact with him as we do with this application for smartphones, what do you wish you could do this? … Download Pou or a similar one from a repo or site and install it on our Linux… U_U…

Well nothing, another pet that we have for our distro, with LOVE I end because I do not know any more than these three (LOVE, Macopix and Oneko), if anyone knows any other I would appreciate your comment about it.

I use Plex, it is not an icon pack as such, it is a tablet that has several PNGs and I adapted it manually to my dock.
