Something I always wanted to have in Gnome During the years that I used it, it was the detail of being able to put a wallpaper different on each desktop, this in KDE3.5 was really easy to achieve. Unfortunately the only method I found was simply a delusion ourselves 🙂
However, already in KDE4 it can be achieved ... here you will see how to do it, without the need for complicated commands (none really), or secret configurations or anything like that 🙂
As you can see in the image above, this is a sample of what I am talking about, those are my four (4) desks with the wallpaper of each one 🙂
1. Let's go to the configuration panel and select «Workspace behavior«:
2. Once in there, yesWe just have to mark the option «Different graphic components for each desktop«:
3. And voila… we just have to click on «Apply»To save the changes, or simply close the window, the same system will ask you to save the changes 🙂
This is all. Now just change the wallpaper on a desktop, you will see how this will not affect the rest of the desktops 😉

Well thank you very much KZKG ^ Gaara, it's very simple and it works !!!, right now I'm on fedora 19 with KDE, and the truth is it works quite well, and as you say, I also tried to do it in gnome, the truth is that KDE every time it is improving more and more, although the truth, at least for me, as a good GTK 2 environment like XFCE or MATE there is nothing.
For someone who uses KDE like me, this is not new as the author says it has been going since 3.5
I prefer desktop backgrounds to go as presentations. But it is still another way of changing the images from time to time.
I can't find that function in the current KDE 5. Do you know its location and if it works with widgets?
I don't find that function in Plasma 5 either.
I don't find that function in any Plasma 5 either.
