We have a new section: How To Fedora

Because not everything is Debian and Ubuntu (without disparaging, let's be clear;)), in <°DesdeLinux we inaugurate the section: How To Fedora, section dedicated solely and exclusively to the blue hat distro 😀 (already needed XD). They will surely say: It already came from opportunist, as you see that the launch of Fedora 17 is coming, now it wants to force it through our eyes ¬.¬… Well, they are partly right XD and partly not, I feel that this change is good for this humble corner of the web since inadvertently, we are always talking about distributions ".Deb" and we leave out some others :(.

As its name suggests, in this section we will see installation, optimization and administration tips for this great distro. We will pass the classics "Megapost" to mini How To's easy to digest avoiding with this, having to smoke a "Megachoro" just to find a useful line within a sea of endless paragraphs;).

If someone wants or needs to have any doubts or questions addressed about a certain issue related to Fedora, just state their complaint and voila: P, we will try to solve it :).

So you know, we will start very soon;).

P.S: Users «.deb» abstain XD ...

Good initiative, there are many Fedora users wandering around, who will now have more reasons to approach Desde Linux 😉

That's the idea, that no one moves from desdelinux XD

It was necessary to talk about other distros that were not: "Debian / Ubuntu / Linux Mint" (without underestimating) and what better than my favorite distro "Fedora" and in 9 days more Fedora 17 (Beefy Miracle): p

  6.   auroszx said

Oh interesting, I look forward to this because Fedora is a good distro 🙂

  7.   ianpock's said

I would love you to put a how to install a minimal fedora with openbox or awesome and its postconfigurations, even if it was in more than one post.

On the web there is not much about this topic and I think at least that it is very interesting.

rpm and window managers is something interesting (at least for me, lol)

Yes, you have read my mind: p, added

How do I get them to add a Sabayon section?

    1.    perseus said

Good suggestion, let's study this and do our best 😉

    2.    dwarf said

To add sections of any distro you need someone who uses that distro for a long time and has everything at hand, who knows how to move and how to put everything in its place.

It's not that easy because most of the Staff use .deb or Arch distros and the truth is that, although Perseus is the expert in distros, he can't go around switching from one distro to another or virtualizing everything xD

excellent news, although I don't use Fedora, it is a great incentive for its users. to see when we will have a How to Arch !!!!!

    1.    ianpock's said

buah a how to arch, that really makes my mouth water dwm + arch… ..

And since we have one with gentoo ...

But I think that would be a lot to ask, I don't like to ask….

Although the evil tongues say that ordering is free… .;)

Excellent initiative, it would be good to put how to install broadcom wifi plates in fedora, how to make the internal microphone of the laptops and the multit-gesture work ...

  11.   Miguel said

    Very good, already needed.

Sure bro, any help is welcome -Everyone is invited to participate openly-, not only for this section, but for our entire community (blog, forum, etc ...), if you want and can do it, get in touch with the admins (@Elav y @ KZKG ^ Gaara) and voila, to publish;).

      Cheers ;).

Thanks for your advice, now in summer I don't have classes, I already have incentive 🙂

      2.    dwarf said

There is also a Fedora forum at DesdeLinux, it wouldn't be bad for you to stop by and leave your suggestions or problems... in fact, the ideal and correct thing to do is to go through that forum so that everything can be finalized; comments are lost very easily.

        1.    Algave said

And where is the forum? I don't see it ¬¬ '

      3.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

        +1 😀
As long as there are good intentions, everyone is welcome to participate 🙂

  13.   perseus said

Wow, I see that this idea has been very well received, thank you all… ^. ^

    1.    ianpock's said

I think that any how to is welcome no matter the distro or the package itself, the important thing is to have the desire and courage (you have to show a post) to do it!

  14.   inobright said

Perseus, just this "little corner" 🙂

I really like Ubuntu and every day it seems more like one of the best distro for desktop, but Fedora is still my favorite.

    1.    perseus said

Yes, to be honest, Ubuntu is not doing things wrong and from what I have read out there, the best is yet to come. Hopefully Ubuntu keeps improving a lot more;).

      regards

Thanks a lot ! I use fedora on my work notebook and I am much happier than with ubuntu precise on my home notebook 😉

  17.   Mafuns said

Great news. I'm still quite a newbie but I've already started testing other distros apart from Ubuntu, which I still use, and those initiatives are very useful.

I have a question, will most fedora stuff work in opensuse (I mean that from the .rpm)?

    1.    tavo said

In most cases, if they work anyway, OpenSUSE has a very good package finder:
http://software.opensuse.org/search and here's how to install development packages using Build Service:
      http://www.muktware.com/3580/how-install-gimp-28-opensuse
Suse and Fedora are very similar in their development scheme, not just because they share the .rpm packaging

in fact I am right now using Fedora 17 KDE RC 32 bits and I loved it 100% and even more 😛, a good How to option would be to upgrade from one version of Fedora to another (say from Fedora 16 to Fedora 17) without the DVD either with PreUpgrade or another way, including it is possible to upgrade from the upgrade manager (say Apper or Gnome package kit)

      1.    ianpock's said

To update fedora preupgrade goes super well, although there are already many blogs that talk about it.

I propose to put new things that nobody else has thought of or, for example, put things so that the ordinary user can easily do.
Ex: How to compile in fedora ??? Customize Fedora without scripts, conkys in fedora, another thing would be to teach the different variants of fedora, not just kde, gnome, xfce and lxde.

In fedora there is much more !!!

Although the rpm is more lethargic than deb, everything has to be said
