What desktop environment do you use in Suits? Gnome or Xfce?

Whenever I watch a television series (especially if it is American), I carefully observe the Desktop Environments that appear in scenes where a computer is present.

Many times the interfaces that appear in this type of program are laughable. I think they are "modified" or "invented" so as not to present legal problems, but I'm not sure. In others, for example, mention is made of Operating system that they use as in the case of The Big Bang Theory, where on more than one occasion it has been seen KDE as Desktop Environment, and even, the own Sheldon Cooper I affirm that Ubuntu it was his favorite distribution.

In these moments I am seeing Suits, a series broadcast by USA Network and that I find it quite entertaining. The fact is that, in this series, I was struck by the Desktop Environment that appears in many of the scenes. Repeatedly the images seen on the monitors present the same number of windows and so on, but let's look at these 3 examples that I show you below, to see if someone is able to tell me what Desktop Environment eg.

I don't know about you, but I can't stop thinking what it is Gnome 2 o Xfce (with two panels as in Gnome 2). I have not seen another Desktop Environment that has the same structure. But what's more, if you look at this image, my suspicions increase:

Can anyone tell me if that login screen is owned by someone else Operating system? It gives me an air of GDM o KDE horrible.

The curious thing about all this is that the plot of the series takes place within a prestigious law firm. Why don't they use Windows or better, OS X? As an extra comment I would like to add: Have you not noticed how in almost all TV series, people who use a computer only use the keyboard to move between windows and run applications? Yes, in the purest style "Tiling" ¬¬.

A character like Sheldon Cooper is someone who would look better to an Arch, or a Slackware.

    The only series I'm watching is The walking dead and it seems to me that the zombies use Windows ... seriously I usually see Mac laptops in all the series, if there is something to praise about the apple firm, it is the way they show their products .... sure they saw this, but how I laughed the first time I saw it;

I say that it is Gnome 2 and GDM, or lastly it is none and they are simple images captured on a monitor.

In the first image, you see the typical gnome 2 trash icon (commonly known as "trash"). And next to this one also seems to glimpse the desktop management icon.

It looks like Gnome, totally, with the two panels -although practically empty-. XFCE could also be, since if you customize it properly there is not much aesthetic difference between one and the other.

Anyway, in the series you can see a lot the typical laptop with the MAC logo, and if you look at it… you hardly ever see the cursor! You can tell that they are full screen videos, haha.

I would also say that it is Gnome 2. And what about Sheldon Cooper I suppose it will be because Ubuntu is better known to the general public, if not, as @diazepan says, an Archlinux or even a Gentoo xDDD is much better for it

Sometimes they put funds that they do, other times they invent it directly, I think that if they do not put it it is because Apple and Microsoft will want to be compensated financially or something, I do not know, they are my conjectures ..

From what I have noticed is that before Apple equipment appeared a lot in series, movies, but now they hardly appear, it gives me that Apple has put its hand so that its equipment is not exhibited so much.

Either that or they stopped paying movie producers to show their products. For example I remember a Japanese movie where only Opel cars appeared, it is clear that Opel paid, the same happens with all the others.

There is a session manager called SLIM that is so customizable that it could be any of the latter that is not known for sure.

SLIM I use it and it's great.

It looks like Sabayon's XFCE to me, which I now use but with only one bar, and "MS WOS" at the bottom. Especially because of the grayish tone of the file browser more similar to Thunar than to Nautilus, in its default settings.

In addition to that light blue hue. d the default XFCE wallpapers.

It could be a Xubuntu, because it doesn't use LightDM, it has the bar at the top, and a launcher at the bottom.

The pity is that if they do not use MS WOS or OSX it is because they do not pay them, and on top of that they are still sued for using them, but they do not take the opportunity to advertise what is good.

Sheldon Cooper gets a gentoo, because he's patient, to compile it to his liking, while the others use Sabayon - precompiled gentoo -, the smart Arch girls, and the not so smart Ubuntu. But since they don't pay, they don't talk about those things.

Well they did a good chapter of Siri. Which I assume Apple would finance.

Well, I think it's gnome, the trash appears right where it goes in gnome by default.

Although with some configuration as they said it could also be xfce.

Haha I say it's XFCE and the last one maybe GDM, but who knows, about what you say that just to run applications there is a part in the movie swordfish xD if you look at minute 1.34 of this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjGbvpr_dB8 ) You will see that he does not write anything xD haha just press the center line of the keyboard haha xD! a total fail: D! greetings to all

I think that the producers, scriptwriters or whoever should take care of the details in big bang theory have spread it, although it is known that Sheldon says "Ubuntu you are my Favorite Linux system" sheldon uses facebook, an intellectual person would not use it, also in Another chapter well saw your "Alienware" with IE (that's right) not even Firefox or Chrome and if you want it operates: S

I also saw Leonard with KDE t-shirts and Sheldon talking about reinstalling his Linux system (Ubuntu) as one night's entertainment, but then I think Internet Explorer is mentioned in many chapters or the header system of this browser was seen . Both Ubuntu and KDE, I want to think that they are named more because they are more popular and attract more attention, which I suppose is the purpose of a television series.

I love Linux but I am getting old and I am getting more and more tired of fanaticism towards an operating system (whatever it is) and the closure and persecution towards the rest. All systems have their advantages and disadvantages and they are not bullshit for that. When are we going to end those battles?

To finish, which is what I was coming to: An intelligent person such as the character of Sheldon, who is not an intellectual or a thinker - here I think he was expressed wrong, imho -, does not have to use or stop using Facebook but, many users use it forced to have a kind of personal profile for other users or companies, such as exhibitors; using it well or badly depends on each one, right?

I'm surprised that Sheldon uses Ubuntu. Didn't they say it's "Linux for humans"?
