Wine version 3.13 is now available, so we can all enjoy this fantastic compatibility layer to be able to install native software for Microsoft Windows environments on Unix systems (Linux, Solaris, macOS, BSD,…). But in addition to this great news about this new version, there is also more good news such as the availability of DXVK for D3D11 based on Vulkan that will support Wine so that graphics, especially in video games, have a notable improvement in quality and performance.

Ok, but let's go to version first Wine 3.13, which has come up with some major improvements such as Vulkan support also for macOS using MoltenVK, initial support for performance data in the registry, Mono engine has been updated with some bug fixes present in previous versions, support for searching BIOS information in Linux, GNUTLS can now also be used in macOS, improvements to the Task Dialog standard, and many other bugs patched for certain video games.

This as for Wine 3.13, but the project DXVK extension it also has improvements as I said in the previous paragraph. For those who do not know DXVK extension, it is an implementation of D3D11 (Direct3D 11) based on Vulkan that can be used on top of Wine. This implies a significant improvement in the graphics API that can be used with Wine for applications and video games that need to move their graphics thanks to it, something that is appreciated.

As for the DXVK improvements that we can enjoy in this version DXVK 0.63 they mainly highlight the correction of bugs that affected some parts, including the work overload for the CPU, as well as better compatibility for NVIDIA. A pleasant surprise for those of us who use Wine that we will be able to use this project under Wine on our favorite GNU / Linux distributions, so don't wait any longer and try it now!
