I anxiously waiting for January to come to enjoy the next version of Xfce and it turns out that, as you can see in the release schedule, Xfce 4.10 will not be with us until March 11 of the 2012.
As already had commented This version will not include major changes in itself, rather it will be a release where some details that users have been reporting will have been polished. Basically what we will see for this version is the following:
- Improve user experience with directories.
- Integrate remote accesses in the side panel.
- Improve the responsiveness of file operations.
- New plugin for thunar to provide the functionality of xfdesktop.
- Combine the functionality of xfrun4 y xfce4-appfinder in a single application.
- Allow users to add custom actions.
- Add a container plugin for the placement of elements in the panel more flexible.
- Improve all dialogues on small screens.
- "Solidify" keyboard shortcuts.
- Easy installation themes.
- Improve pointer settings.
- Improve desktop accessibility Xfce and integration with Orca.
Well, nothing guys, wait. The good thing about this is that as I am now using Archlinux, if by then I have it installed on my computer, I will have the new version immediately 😛
Good things are made to wait, a fruit is very tasty when it is ripe, that is, just at its point, this is XFCE.
I hope they solve the bugs that version 4.8 has that made me go back to version 4.6.2 🙁
What problems did the bugs cause you? I used it on Debian and now on Arch and so far I have not had any inconvenience.
at this minute I don't remember exactly what the bug was but I do remember that it had to do with Composer
Well I try and try to use Xfce but it doesn't fit me hahaha.
I had the problem of not detecting my hard drives, now the networkmanager or wicd pfff does not work
I am a bit saddened by the news, but I am glad that the delay is due to the fact that it takes more time for the new version to be mature and at its point. Hopefully Thunar would come up with the Nautilus F3 feature, that would be great! Nobody has told you? How can we let you know?
It has already been talked about, on the same website of the creators there are several conversations about it. The point is that they want to keep it as simple as possible and the option they give is to click with the middle button of the mouse (the wheel) on the chosen folder and open another instance of the window. To me the truth does not seem so crazy not to have tabs being able to open several windows.
Hello, Nerjartin. Thanks for your answer. I understand the simplicity, but dividing the panel in two to work with two folders is very useful when organizing files and folders. It's nothing wow !, but it's worth the Xfce guys to implement it, just as they did with the way to remove the peripherals in the current version: a much appreciated feature in Gnome.
Thanks for the information, I did not know that with the central button another window would open.
nerjamartin: I will ask you a very simple question .. Let's go back to Internet Explorer 6. How is it easier to navigate, with a single window and using tabs or with a window for each site?
Excellent replica !!! 😀
And what did the other say ???
First of all, congratulations on the blog, it is very good, it is one of the pages in Spanish with more information about xfce, I encourage you to continue in this line!
Could you help me with a little problem, I installed the ambiance theme in debian 6 with xfce, and there are applications that look good, but others such as evince or pdfedit look very bad, here are some images:
