Xfce 4.10 can now be installed on Xubuntu from the official PPA

Do you remember I showed you how to install Xfce 4.10 en Xubuntu using a PPA? Well some users (with good reason) they did not feel confident to use it as it was not the official PPA. Well, I bring you excellent news, PPA from the developers of Xubuntu has been updated with the latest version of this Desktop Environment.

In the end, the packages have been uploaded by the same packer from the previous PPA, Lionel le folgoc, but I guess being in the Official PPA, some feel more confident. Well, what they have to do (Xubuntu users) is to add to the file / Etc / apt / sources.list the following lines:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xubuntu-dev/xfce-4.10/ubuntu precise main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/xubuntu-dev/xfce-4.10/ubuntu precise main

Or write in console:

ppa:xubuntu-dev/xfce-4.10

Then we add the corresponding keys.

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 142986CE

And ready. To update has been said.

    Let's see when it comes into Debian, even if it's Sid. I want to try it but I don't really want to be mixing repositories, really.

      The same thing happens to me, I prefer to wait for it to enter the repos (and I'll wait until testing ...) than to have to mix, in the end ... I can mess up the OS haha.

        I have become fond of:

        $ ./configure --prefix=/usr
        $ make
        # make install

        😀

          Too much for my netbook 😛

        Yeah ... Personally, I wouldn't mind if the "unstable" branch was a bit faster. They take too long to get new packages. In my humble opinion, "experimental" is unnecessary and "sid" should take its place.
        PS I'm the one from before (but from Windows: P)

          I've been thinking the exact same thing for a long time.

    Silly question but important to me at the same time 😛 Would it cause me problems in Linux Mint 12? I see nothing else for Buntu 12.04
