Google is changing the name of its AI from “Bard” to “Gemini”
Since December of last year, Google has been implementing a series of changes to its Bard chatbot and now Google just announced that it will change the name of its AI products.
Bard, the artificial intelligence chatbot that Google launched almost a year ago as competition for OpenAI's ChatGPT, Now it's called "Gemini", which Google describes as a more advanced artificial intelligence that promises to revolutionize the way we interact with technology.

With the name change, Subscription option for Gemini Advanced has also been introduced, which offers access to Gemini Ultra for $19.99 per month. This subscription not only provides users with a more sophisticated AI model, but also includes two terabytes of cloud storage, typically valued at $9.99 per month. Subscribers will also have access to Gemini in Gmail and GSuite, integrating AI directly into Google's productivity apps.
“This first version of Gemini Advanced reflects our current advances in AI reasoning and will continue to improve,” said Sissie Hsiao, vice president and general manager of Gemini and Google Assistant experiences. “As we add new and exclusive features, Gemini Advanced users will have access to expanded multimodal capabilities, more interactive coding features, deeper data analysis capabilities, and more.”
Google mentions that Gemini Ultra uses a combination of 57 materials, From mathematics to ethics, Gemini Ultra demonstrates an exceptional ability to handle complex tasks such as logical reasoning, coding, following nuanced instructions, and creative collaboration to evaluate knowledge and solve complex problems. This powerful tool is designed to handle longer conversations and contain more context, making it ideal for tasks that require logical reasoning and advanced coding skills.
In addition to that, it is mentioned thate Gemini also integrates closely with Google services, forming part of the new Google One AI Premium plan. This Allows users to access Gemini in apps like Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Meet, providing a more fluid and consistent user experience across the entire Google ecosystem. Besides, Gemini is available as a dedicated mobile app for Android devices, with plans to expand to other platforms in the future. The changelog suggests that this new app can help you learn new things, write thank you notes, plan events, and more using Google AI on a mobile device.
With the arrival of Gemini, Google is committed to guaranteeing the security and privacy of users. Gemini AI is backed by robust security measures, including SynthID watermarking on all generated images. However, Google recognizes the ethical challenges associated with AI and is actively working to address these issues and protect users from abuse and manipulation of the technology.
On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that Gemini Advanced will likely be available through a paid plan in 150 countries and territories. While Ultra 1.0 is likely optimized for English, it could offer more language support.
