katana is a Linux distro (multi-boot) that collects the best computer security distros focused on penetration tests, audits, network analysis, virus and malware removal, system recovery, password cracking, etc., which can be executed directly from the USB memory. Katana also includes more than 100 portable applications for Windows, such as Cain & Abel, Wireshark, Metasploit, NMAP, etc. |
Katana version 2.0 was released a few days ago. The main novelties are the following:
- Forge: This tool allows you to customize Katana to add more layouts. It is a graphical frontend that helps the process of adding distributions such as BackTrack 3, Knoppix 6.02 or WeakNet 3 to the Katana base.
- CAINE: This computer forensic environment allows tools to be used to track possible security intrusions.
- What's new in the toolkit- Included utilities are Metasploit, NMAP, Cain & Abel, John The Ripper, Cygwin, Spoof-Me-Now, Tor, StreamArmor, and Forensic Acquisition Utilities.
- Katana on DVD: it is possible to generate a DVD with everything you need thanks to two scripts, one for Linux and the other for Windows, available from the official website.
The distros that are included in Katana v2.0 are the following:
- Backtrack (Linux specialized in security)
- the Ultimate Boot CD (system Tools)
