The new version of Android 10 has already been launched and these are its news

Android 10

Google announced a few days ago the launch of the popular mobile operating system Android 10, version in which it was announced weeks before about the change in the logo of the system as well as the change in the choice of name in which the already known translation of adding a name of a dessert or sweet in relation to the letter of the version was left aside, which in this case should be the Q, but in the end it was decided to only keep the version number .

The sources related to the new version are placed in the project's Git repository (android-10.0.0_r1 branch). Firmware updates have already been prepared for 8 Pixel series devices, including the first Pixel model. Universal sets of Generic System Images (GSI) were also formed, suitable for different devices based on ARM64 and x86_64 architectures.

While in the coming months, Android 10 updates will be released for the different current phone brands such as Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, Huawei, Nokia, Vivo, OPPO, OnePlus, ASUS, LG and Essential.

What's new in Android 10

With the release of this new version of Android sand introduced the Mainline project, which allows upgrading of individual system components without updating the entire platform. This downloads similar updates via Google Play separately from the manufacturer's OTA firmware updates.

Direct delivery of updates is supposed to increase the efficiency of vulnerability remediation and it will reduce reliance on device manufacturers to maintain platform security.

Modules with updates will initially come with open source code, will be available immediately in the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) repositories, and may include improvements and fixes prepared by third party participants.

Among the components that will be updated separately:

  • multimedia codecs
  • multimedia frame
  • DNS resolver
  • Conscrypt Java security provider
  • document user interface
  • permission controller
  • Ext services
  • time zone data
  • ANGLE
  • Module metadata
  • network components
  • captive portal login
  • network access settings

In addition to this in Android 10 stands out parental control mode “Family Link", what limits the amount of time children work with the device, provide bonus minutes for successes and achievements, view lists of launched applications and evaluate how much time a child spends on them, review installed applications and set the night to block access at night.

Another of the modes added in Android 10 is the "Focus mode", which lets you selectively mute distracting apps for when you need to focus on solving a problem, for example pausing mail and news reception, but leaving cards and instant messengers behind.

Added support for the 5G mobile standard , for which existing connection management APIs are adapted. Even through the API, applications can determine the presence of a high-speed connection and the activity of charging for traffic

Multimedia and graphics

For the graphics part the new graphical API Vulkan 1.1 stands out. Compared to OpenGL ES, using Vulkan can significantly reduce the load on the CPU (up to 10 times in Google tests) and increase rendering performance.

On the other hand added experimental support for ANGLE layer implementation (Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine) on top of the Vulkan Graphics API. ANGLE allows interaction, abstracting from the specific APIs of different systems, thanks to the translation of OpenGL ES calls to OpenGL, Direct3D 9/11, Desktop GL and Vulkan).

For game and graphics developers, ANGLE allows the normal OpenGL ES driver to be used on all devices using Vulkan.

Applications for working with the camera and the images tomay request that the camera transfer additional XMP metadata in a JPEG file, including the information needed to process depth in photographs.

Android 10 arrives with many changes, APIs, codecs and others so if you want to know more in detail The changes of this new version can be consulted in the following link.
