When Linux containers first emerged cAs an architectural concept for designing and packaging applications, they opened up a whole new world of possibilities for developers. The Kubernetes container orchestration platform quickly followed suit, allowing companies to fully leverage the power of containers, while meeting the need to manage large-scale container environments.
To better understand the current impact containers and Kubernetes in developers, Red Hat commissioned research firm CCS Insight to study the current state of container use, including benefits, challenges, adoption rate and use cases related to this technology, in companies in Europe.
This studio is based on feedback from hundreds of IT professionals who occupy technical or commercial positions and participate in the adjustment, development, implementation and management of software or code applications services.
According to analyst firm IDC:

The findings of the study commissioned by Red Hat seem to confirm this, and respondents cited cloud adoption (33%), operational scaling capabilities (30%), and improved productivity (29%) among the top benefits of using containers.

Of these, 30% cite the need to provide new types of application services among the top motivations, while 19% see containers as a way to better support business groups within their company. As the use of containers increases, there is a need for capacity to support this growth. Platforms like Kubernetes that organize, automate, and manage containers play a critical role in making technology work in an enterprise environment.
The results of the study confirm this, given that 61% of respondents agree that they need to use orchestration services From containers; however, 19% of them consider that this technology is too complex to be able to implement it themselves.
As a result, more than half of those surveyed expect that container development within your company carried out by a third-party service provider, either completely (24%) or combining the use of a service provider with the use of internal resources (32%).
Overall, the companies surveyed in this study show a high rate of container adoption, with 71% of respondents indicating that they actively use this technology in one form or another, be it from large-scale production (22%) or more. limited (26%), or as part of pilot projects (23%).

Of the 524 people surveyed on the question, 43% say that the top container-based applications being developed and deployed in enterprises today are those that simplify integration and increase the consistency of internal systems and components.
