With the appearance of the different Ubuntu distros, the problems with the activation of the Broadcom Chipset continue.
One of the ways to activate it is by having an internet connection and downloading it as a proprietary controller, but what about those who don't have an internet connection? There is the possibility of activating it without having internet, although prior to that it is necessary to download this archive, which contains the firmware and everything necessary for activation. |
Installation
Unzip the file and put it on the desktop. Open up a terminal and enter the following commands:
cd Desk
cd created_folder
sudo dpkg -i b43-fwcutter_011-4_i386.deb
Now extract and install the drivers:
tar xfvj broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2
sudo b43-fwcutter -w / lib / firmware wl_apsta-3.130.20.0.o
sudo b43-fwcutter --unsupported -w / lib / firmware broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5 / driver / wl_apsta_mimo.o
ooo thanks homs it worked for ubuntu 13.04 perfectly agalo like it says and you will see results
Thanks ... through this method I was able to place drivers that I was missing to use WIFI on my PC using Ubuntu 12.04, from which I deleted something and could not connect ... almost I reformatted ... but the Ubuntu users network through friend Michel on the Net they gave me the link… thank you all.
Hello, exactly the same thing happens to me as the people I mentioned below, the wireless works from Live, but in the installation on disk no, I really don't know where to look anymore, I would appreciate your help! By the way, I did the steps above but it doesn't work. Cheers!!!!!
It is rare that Bcm 43xx does not work in 12.04, because I tried it with the live cd and it already brings the library loaded. I don't know if the current version of fedora16 still has problems with these wireless, but if someone requires help ... a 'tuto' of mine could be of use to them, and if you allow me Pablo, I would leave the link. http://www.taringa.net/posts/linux/13678096/Activa-red-inalambrica-BCM4313-en-fedora-16.html. It also works on Fuduntu ...
Although there is a certain Gustavo Sied who took it from me without giving credit. Thank you
Very good.
Cheers! Paul.
OKAY!. Thanks a lot!. I'll see how this trick works for me. This tiny - but important - detail is the only thing that leaves me with a bittersweet taste after my Ubuntu 12.04 installation. Thanks for the tip.
OK I have not tried it, but it will surely be useful to me
That same problem I have. From the live CD it goes great. But, having the system installed, it no longer works. Curious problem
I have the Bcm 43xx, it works perfectly on live cd, but when installing the final version it doesn't recognize it, I have to connect it by cable and install it.
Hello, the same thing happens to me qa marce… .please… help !!!! Cheers
Teacher, Thank you very much, although it seemed a bit confusing (the truth is, I still need an explanation with apples ha ha) it served me wonderfully.
Thanks for this tutorial, it happens that I installed UbuntuStudio 12.04.3 32-bit and the wireless internet did not work for me, I have a Dell Inspiron 1750, thanks. God bless you
very good tutorial, it works perfectly with broadcom 802.11g network card in ubuntu 12.10, thank you very much
Ooooouffff full full thank you I will not have to keep looking on the web for a solution to this terrible problem seriously thank you very much
great 🙂 it helped me a lot
Hello! I tell you that I was looking everywhere for this solution, since in all the forums I was (and there were many) they all gave a solution through the use of the internet. It took me a whole day but I made it. Thanks a lot!
I am going to try this method, I hope and it is effective, since I have a Mac PowerBook G4 (PPC) to which I install Ubuntu 12.04 (live CD desktop version) and it needs this driver.
Fantastic. After years of using xubuntu, I loaded the system. I have tried dozens of distributions, but each one has its flaws (debian, fedora, opensuse, ubuntu, crunchbang, puppy, etc, etc). What if the screen, the network, the touchpad, the language.
The result is that the most operational is still ubuntu. But the network problem (b43 wifi in my case) still does not solve it.
Thank you very much friend for your solution !!!
Excellent you very well…. Thank you
Thank you so much!!!! tb I needed something offline, it worked for me for ubuntu 14.04 =)
Greetings.
When installing Xubuntu 14.04 LTS on my daughter's netbook (Compaq Mini 102) I was left without ethernet and without wifi. I could not do anything! If I connected the network cable I had no connection, nor did it have Wi-Fi.
And here was the solution. Perfect! Everything is working properly.
I renew my greetings and thanks.
Thanks, let's use linux. Nice job!
You're welcome! The best way to thank us is by advertising. 🙂
Hug! Paul.
Following these steps I have not been able to activate the device, it has given me an error and when I restart I get in the update manager to update the broadcom 43xx but logically I still cannot do it because I have no connection
it asks me for a password 🙁
Thanks !!! it worked for me for ubuntu 14.04. Regards.
there is no way I am not going xd help
Hi davinius!
I think it would be better if you ask a question in our question and answer service called Ask DesdeLinux so that the whole community can help you with your problem.
A hug, Pablo.
After so many years this post is still great, if it weren't for him my lap would already be dead…. thanks
I'm glad! A hug! Paul.
Works perfect on Linux Mint Quiana 17.
Thank you!
PS: the first command would be: ¨sudo dpkg -i b43-fwcutter_011-1_i386.deb¨ because the file has that name
very useful it has helped me a lot a couple of times ...
The same thing happened to me in 15.04 and it worked out of the box.
