Adobe publishes Open Source typography

Is the world ending? 

Jokes aside, although I do not know the reasons that prompted this decision, the well-known company Adobe posted on SourceForge a new font family called Source Sans Pro under license SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows modifying or distributing it by acknowledging its designers or authors.

Designed by Paul D Hunt and created to be used in user interfaces, it is the first family of open fonts from Adobe. The styles that we can find in it are:

  • Source Sans Pro
  • Font Sans Pro Black
  • Source Sans Pro Extra Light
  • Font Sans Pro Light
  • Font Sans Pro Semibold

If we want to use it we can download a tablet from this link and then copy the TTF folder inside it to ~ / .fonts o / usr / share / fonts /.
