An example of free hardware: Arduino

Do you know what the "Free hardware"? Well, basically, they are those devices of hardware whose specifications and schematic diagrams are publicly accessible, either under some type of payment or for free. In other words, it is the same philosophy of free software applied to hardware. Arduino is an absolutely free microcontroller applicable to countless projects

Arduino is a free hardware platform based on a simple I / O board and a development environment that implements the Processing / Wiring programming language. Arduino can be used to develop stand-alone interactive objects or it can be connected to computer software (for example: Macromedia Flash, Processing, Max / MSP, Pure Data). The plates can be assembled by hand or purchased. The free integrated development environment is free to download.

Arduino platforms are based on the Atmega168, Atmega328, Atmega1280, ATmega8 and similar microcontrollers, simple and low-cost chips that allow the development of multiple designs.

Being open-hardware, both its design and distribution is free. That is, it can be used freely for the development of any type of project without having acquired any license.

For more information, I recommend you watch the documentary that appears below. Of course, you can also visit the official project page and the Arduino page on the almighty Wikipedia.

Thanks Miguel Mayol i Tur for passing the information on to us!

If you want to see Arduino projects, go to MAKE magazine, there are usually projects with it or variants of it.

    Thanks Mario! Very good contribution!

I really liked the video, I always heard about arduino but I never gave it much ball. in the place of my city (bahia blanca) there are several who "play" with it. From what it seems from the video, they promote it as something for non-computing people, I'm going to see what happens and if this medium is easy, I'm going to propose it to the place to see if there is a course or something like that local, it seems something very good 🙂 and that it has many uses for people outside of nerds like us xD

Thanks to you, you have posted it much better than me on my blog that I only put the video and the headline, it's nice to read you

But it is based on a software called Processing which does not exist for Ubuntu !!!

    It seems. 🙁

This is incredible!!! The first time I heard about this project and I was struck by the potential it has to facilitate access to a multitude of things, from knowledge to specific applications of technology in our daily lives.

What I liked the most about the video was that it encouraged me to try to be a person who seeks collective well-being, who contributes his grain of sand, simply to make a better planet for EVERYONE. The truth is that it is good to know that there are not just "bad" people; we have the option to either join that group, complain and do nothing, or follow the lead of our arduino friends.

    Greetings and encouragement guys !!

That good! It was the idea! Any input or suggestion for future blog articles will be welcome. 🙂
    A big hug! Paul.

It is a relief that these “Free Hardware” projects exist, we can now escape the “Digital Wives” that Microsoft and Apple are trying to impose.

Many Arduino and Raspberry Pi E-Books can be downloaded from the website “http://it-ebooks.info/”.
