Never before in DesdeLinux I had told them about this distribution based on Fedora and maintained by Joel barrios, creator and CEO of Free Range, but now is the time to do it because I think it is a very promising project.
The work that Joel is doing with ALDOS, which reaches the version 1.4.2 (on Fedora 14) and that contains interesting news:
- 3.1.4 Core (made up as 2.41.4 for compatibility purposes)
- GNOME 2.32
- xserver 1.10
- Firefox 9
- LibreOffice 3.4
- SELinux disabled by default to conserve resources.
- IPv6 active by default.
- By default, only localization for Spanish and English is installed to save space on storage media.
- Minimal startup services for fast startup.
- GNOME MPlayer as the default media player.
- Full multimedia support for proprietary audio and video formats in GNOME MPlayer.
- Support for MP3 and other proprietary audio formats in Rhythmbox.
- Emesene as the default instant messaging client.
Something that caught my attention was a topic that Joel was working on called aladabra (includes support for GTK2 / GTK3) although it will not be the default theme, but it will be included in standard installation.
Joel has taken care of every detail very well. The bet for Gnome 2 It seems very successful to me, at least until Gnome 3 reach more maturity.

If it's gnome 2, we already have CentOS, everything else I can have quickly in Fedora 16, why use 14, it is already at the end of life, since December 2012.
I think that instead of reworking with Fedora, what should be done is to facilitate the configurations with scripts like Autoplus, easylife and fedora utils, or by simply providing a CD with everything that is missing in fedora, the codecs, etc.
