Available to download Firefox 14.0.1

Even when in Mozilla had not made the official announcement (as usual) version 14 of Firefox, which goes directly from the numbering 13.0.1 to 14.0.1.

This version includes few improvements, but some are quite interesting. From the outset, searches now make use of https, something that although it is appreciated, will be a problem for users with slow connections. Although I have not researched about it, I suppose this can be disabled using the about: config.

A beautiful detail is added in terms of the interface and is that the favicon now it is shown integrated into the address bar.

The address bar also auto-completes the inserted URLs and some other changes are added that you can see in this link.

    Very good ..

By the way, Ikey Doherty announced the availability of this version in Solus.

Something very interesting is that while he was reading his publications a bit and seeing how the development of version 2 of Solus is going, a person told him by asking the following question:

+ Ikey Doherty do you will adopt Gnome 3.6 on SolusOS 2? I want to see it, Gnome 3.6 has a lot of new things and surprices like the Skydrive integration on the Gnome documents app a new lock screen display design and more

What translated would be something like this:

Ikey Doherty How will Gnome 3.6 be adopted in SolusOS 2? I want to see it, Gnome 3.6 has a lot of new things and surprices like the integration of Skydrive in the Gnome application documents a new design display lock screen and more.

    Ikey responds:

Things like lockscreens I don't mind.
They totally contradicted themselves with that after the ripped out screensaver support but w / e
They're turning it into a tablet big time

    Seriously translated:

Things like lockscreens don't matter to me.
They totally contradict those after ripped screen saver support, but w / e They are turning it into a great time compressed

This answers the question I had for days if Solus will use Gnome 3.6 ^ _ ^

Google can sometimes be sooo literal, hahaha….

I once read a Gates phrase that stuck with me. "Free software has interoperability problems." And here is a sample of it, and it is not only interoperable, it also disqualifies its own base.

Do you get paid to link everything to that "wonderful" distribution? It's already starting to get tired.

One has to know that when one clings to a distribution, he protects and evangelizes it until death ...

For me the most interesting thing that is new is this:

Plugins can now be configured to only load on click (requires an about: config change)

It will help a lot to avoid all that content (mainly advertising) that we are not interested in on a website in addition to making the load faster. Regarding Thunderbird, despite the announcement, I have to say that there are very good prospects, the dr tb-planning mailing list is very active and there are already at least five developers who are organizing a methodology to continue with the maintenance of Thunderbird, starting with the fix of current bugs, and long-term with a redesign of the message composer to truly support html and CSS.

I understand that it brings a native PDF viewer, security improvements and what I would like to know what would happen to the problems with flash that were not completely fixed in V13.0.1

Rather, they removed it from the address bar, because it used to be next to it and now it doesn't.

It's true, now the favicons no longer appear next to the address, in my opinion, I liked it better before. To find a way to put it back.

After doing a little research on the web, I discovered why Mozilla has decided to remove the favicons from the address bar.

[There will no longer be any favicons in the address bar

Firefox 14 also removes the favicons from the address bar. Mozilla found that some phishing websites use the favicon to bypass Mozilla's blocking and other browsers often highlight encrypted websites.

Therefore, Firefox now displays only the generic icons embedded in the address bar to indicate a normal website, without encryption and a lock icon for HTTPS websites. The favicon is still visible in the tab bar, of course.]
