Available Razor-qt: The LXDE counterpart in QT

razor-qt It is a truly interesting project, since it offers us a small desktop composed of a panel with its menu and widgets, an application launcher, and a modest configuration center. All this written in Qt.

Version 0.4 has been released with interesting news:

New components

  • razor runner program: a tool to launch applications.
  • razor-config * tools: hconfiguration tools.
  • razor-qt menu: their own menu following XDG standards.

Other changes

  • Some bugs have been fixed and improvements have been added.
  • Improvements in language translation.
  • new topic a-mego with dark colors.

Panel

  • Configuration dialogs are added.
  • New plugin to unmount devices using udisks.
  • New plugin to lock screen.
  • New plugin to restore the desktop.
  • Support for dragging and adding plugins.
razor-qt works with several WMS (WindowsManager), but most Razor developers use open box. But there is no problem to use fwwm2 o KWin. Installation instructions can be found for Ubuntu, openSUSE, ArchLinux y Fedora. I will personally try to install it using the PPA de Ubuntu, to see if I can use it in Debian. They can get support at Google Groups. And like any good project that is respected, we can find it in GitHub 😀

No thanks, it happens that the same thing happens to you with the mothers-in-law, and by the way, the comment has come out twice.

Is that the title was telling me that you did not know him

I have read about it being too dependent on KDE-Base, as it only lists KDE apps. Could you corroborate it? I have it installed in chakra, so I could not say otherwise: P.

Does it come in Chakra repositories or bundles or ccr?

      1.    perseus said

        In ccr

And can it be put in Spanish?

I know that it can be done, but the truth is that I have not tried due to lack of time

Didn't know him, thanks for the tip! I just installed it on ArchLinux by AUR. At first glance it works very well, and it looks great! I'll be testing it for a couple of days to see if it convinces me.

    Regards!

Well I just installed it in Debian testing and I'm using it at the moment, I'm going to start messing with it, hahaha. It looks very interesting.
In case anyone is interested in the installation, it was with the Ubuntu Oneric PPAs.

This is like a mini-kde, it consumes few resources right? I'm going to prove it, how about 😀

    1.    Oscar said

It is similar to LXDE but with qt.

      1.    Hache said

Yes, well, it cannot be considered as complete as LXDE and it consumes more resources, but it is a good alternative. Although at the moment it is still somewhat green.
