Version 3.7 of the most popular and ideal CMS for setting up a blog is now available: WordPress, named "Basie" in honor of Count Basie.
Few but interesting changes are included in this version that are worth mentioning. To do this, I will simply use the text that you can find once you update your sites at http: //yourdomain.tld/wp-admin/about.php? Updated
Background updates
Updates while you sleep
With WordPress 3.7 you don't have to lift a finger to receive maintenance and security updates. Now most sites are able to automatically apply those updates in the background, although some settings may not allow it.
More reliable than ever
The update process has been made even more reliable and secure, with dozens of new controls and security systems.
You'll still have to click "Update Now" until WordPress 3.8 launches, but we've never had such confidence in that beautiful blue button.
Create stronger passwords
Your password is the first barrier of protection for your site. It is better to create complex, long and unique passwords. To do this, our password meter has been updated in WordPress 3.7, in order to recognize common mistakes that can weaken your passwords: dates, names, keyboard patterns (123456789), even pop culture references.
Better search results
Search results are now sorted by how well they fit an article, rather than simply sorted by date. For example, when you search for a term that matches the title of an article, that result will appear first.
Best global support
International versions of WordPress will receive more complete and faster translations. WordPress 3.7 adds support for automatically installing the appropriate language files and keeps them up to date.
Underhood
More background updates (experimental)
Do you want WordPress to always update automatically, even in its main versions? Do you want to always keep a certain plugin up to date in the background? WordPress 3.7 includes precise update controls for developers and sysadmins.
Advanced Queries by Date
Now developers can make queries for entries within a date range, or between older or newer from a specific date. You want really cool stuff like ... all the entries written on Friday afternoons? No problem.
Multisite improvements
wp_get_sites()
allows developers to easily get a list of all the sites on the network without having to go through a direct database query; Just one of the many multisite enhancements in WordPress 3.7.
Download
If you want to download WordPress, you just have to click on the button:
Since ShellPress still lacks details, I proceed to update Gespadas to WordPress 3.7… Done! Without any setback.
The same on the side here. Updated without any problem ^ _ ^
En eliotime ™, there were no problems either.
So a new WP update comes out and you instantly update? … ¬_¬
Do you have something to claim Sandy? Please, use the mail, Jabber or any of the 35 communication channels through which I cannot communicate with you. 😛
I don't know, but I will try to use an old telegram to be able to communicate with you (especially @Gaara).
I am already updating my WordPress website. Unfortunately, the Peruvian edition is out of date, so I had to resign myself to the Spanish edition, which is very on par with the parent version.
And by the way, in my case, I have to click "update" in WordPress or smash the files via FTP to update my website, as the welcome page told me that it was not possible to do it in the background.
Anyway, I will be preparing some tutorials to handle Drupal without having to complicate my life (but first, I have to improve my skills in Drush to be able to do remote updates of both the core and the modules).
It is not because it is heavy but since I use Pelican to blog, I find WordPress less and less meaningful for a personal site, WP is for a giant portal like this, to those who want something simple and easy to administer, I recommend trying Pelican.
- static blogs (any hosting works, fast)
- zero connection to BD
- comments with disqus
- templates in Jinja2 (hacking ready)
http://docs.getpelican.com/en/latest/getting_started.html
The disqus thing can be an advantage or a great disadvantage, it depends on the case.
In certain cases, it is inconvenient. In my case, I hardly use it in blogs made in Blogger and on my main website, I use the Jetpack (so it does not affect the comment system since it is a distributed system).
Well, I have been using WordPress for a long time and I am not complicated at all with its management (knowing that I am a neophyte in terms of large-scale website technologies and all those maniacs). Now, the CMS that really interests me to learn to the right and vice versa is Drupal, which has caught my attention because of the KISS philosophy and because of how insanely versatile it is (you can use it both for a small blog and for a web portal like Ubuntu).
Anyway, both the Dokuwiki and the Pelican are good, but when you have too much information, it is necessary to manage it in databases.
Yes, but there is one more detail: Compare the Pelican and WordPress installation .. 😉
Ah good. That's another thing.
It is very simple if you already know Python, Jinja2 and use virtualenv and pip regularly. Ahh and you post on github-pages. XD
Ok Pelican isn't for everyone, but that's cool. 😉
