BackBox Linux 2, a distribution for hackers

BackBox it is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu Lucid 11.04, adapted to be used in security tests. It has been designed and developed with the aim of being quick and easy to use. Keeps your own repository which aims to always be updated with the latest stable version of the best known tools used in testing hacking.

Being a young distribution, it does not include some tools, which we assume will be added little by little. Among the outstanding features of this distribution is simplicity and performance. It is a more limited distribution than the "all-powerful" BackTrack, which may work to its advantage in certain respects. For example, in the size of the distribution, about 700Mb, which compared to 2000Mb of BT can be useful in certain environments with limited performance.
It includes a section, within the category of analysis of Web applications, focused on content managers. This is an interesting differentiation because content managers (CMS) have become a widely used option for publishing on the Web. Hosting providers already offer us a complete management of this type of software (mostly with free products) that allows the creation and maintenance of an almost automatic way, facilitating the expansion.

It divides the tools it includes into several categories. We can stand out:

  • network napping - Zenmap, Hping3, Xprobe ...
  • Privilege Escalation
    • Password cracking - John, Medusa ...
    • Sniffing - Wireshark, ettercap-gtk, dsniff ...
    • spoofing - Scapy, Yersinia
  • Vulnerability Assessment
    • Exploitation - Metasploit
    • Vulnerability Scanners - Eggs
  • WebApplication Analysis
    • CMS Scanners - WhatWeb, Plecost ...
    • Database Assessment - Sqlmap, Pynject ...
    • Proxies - Stop.
    • Scanners - Nikto, W3af ...
  • WirelessAnalysis
    • Cracking - Aircrack-ng.
    • Scanning - Kismet.

You can find more details about the version in the official announcement, and download BackBox Linux 2, for both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, in the various discharge mirrors available.

Does anyone know the User and the default backbox pass?

This is what the friend Don Dinero does, first BackTrack, then Caixa Mágica and now this one.

At first all these security-oriented distros were based on Slackware or another distro that was based on Slackware, in the end I see serious hackers using Slackware ...

Ubuntu lucid 11.04? and I thought it was 10.04 (you should correct that), and yes, I agree with courage, why is the good thing going to ubuntu? because they don't leave the distros as is instead of using Ubuntu ... why?

Based on Ubuntu? Hahaha well I think she's going to hack herself.

Too bad BackTrack also ended up as BackBox ... And Slax I don't know what happened to her

Already when it is BASED ON UBUNTU… .. mmmmm
A serious hacker would not use Ubuntu or suck.

I keep sticking with Beini, simple, concise and light.

beini is only for cracking networks, the great hackers or experts in computer security do not use that shit
