BackTrack 5 Review - Video

BackTrack is a GNU / Linux distribution in LiveCD format conceived and designed for security audit and related to informatic security usually. It currently has great popularity and acceptance in the hacker and security community.

This is, we hope, the first in a series of reviews about Linux distributions (yes, the YouTube channel did not work ... let's try Vimeo).

BackTrack 5 is based on Ubuntu and includes a long list of out-of-the-box security tools, including numerous vulnerability and port scanners, exploit files, sniffers, forensic analysis tools, and wireless auditing tools.

Hello and where do I get it from that distro?

I don't like that this distro is based on Ubuntu, it was derived from Slax, so it was indirectly based on Slackware, one of the most stable distros out there, ideal for servers

I would say that the best thing about BackTrack is that it brings the MetaSploit framework, with it we can scan, run exploits, we can even create our own exploits and add them to the framework. The only bad thing about MetasSploit is that it is a bit slow, but it is because it is made in ruby, it is still a very powerful language.

Hello, a question about backtrack, after installing it I need the drives of my netbook such as audio, video, internet (like the ones that are installed in Microsoft Windows after its installation)
,, because in that case I don't have them ,, my netbook came without the drive ,,, I mean they were already installed but the CD didn't come to me ,,,

And in case of testing the LIveCD it is necessary to install the drives or the OS detects them automatically, for example if I want to access the internet as aria?

No no ... Linux does not need drivers like Windows ... there are some very specific exceptions (especially when it comes to printers, scanners or others) but I do not think that is your case.
The best thing would be to burn a Backtrack LiveCD and restart the computer so that it runs from the CD and see if it detects everything right.
