Brilliant Broccoli: Is this the name of Ubuntu 18.04?

We all wondered what would happen when he ran out of names (of code or keys) a Ubuntu, both for finishing the alphabet, as the animals in danger of extinction, and from the blog of ostatic.com the answer comes to us.

This news has nothing relevant, moreover, it is not known if for sure what is said in it will happen in the future, but at least it was funny to me.

Benjamin Drung he pointed that the alphabet would run out Ubuntu in version 17.04 with the letter Z, and it would be necessary to decide whether to start again with the A. In the past UDS, Mark Shuttleworth he said jokingly that they will then use the vegetables when they run out of options and proposed the code name Brilliant Broccoli for Ubuntu LTS 18.04.

Go wit the one shuttleworth. It would be very funny to me if they took the name of vegetables for Ubuntu, and I guess Debian will have to do something similar (maybe take names of condiments or dishes) when you run out of characters Toy Story.. What do you think? 😀

But if they start with A, doesn't it mean something more like Amazing Almond? xD

I answer myself and at the same time I propose Amazing Almond for version 17.10, when they have already finished the alphabet 😛

Well that would be funny about the names of the vegetables.

    Debian has more movies left:

Little Ant (Antz), The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Snow White, etc. Anyway, there are names for a while, ha

Hahaha, imagine yourself with the movie snow white:

    Debian unstable Dumb

    Debian testing grumpy

    Debian stable shy

    Debian old stable sleepyhead

Some time ago a discussion on one of the Fedora lists about whether they weren't going to hell with the wacky and "funny" names and if memory serves, Spherical Cow is going to be last in this line.
For 18.04 Ubuntu will be the second most used operating system in the world after Windows for desktops, servers and all kinds of gadgets, so it seems to me that they will choose something more serious that denotes the importance of Canonical's operating system.

Nuuh, good, blew my mind! Hopefully it's like @anti says, it would be sooo good to see releases with those names !!

More than not very serious names, it seems to me that Fedora is going to go for names related to science and especially physics. I would love to see something like Heisenberg's uncertainty or something like that.

Look, with the kernel that they put in the last LTS, it is better than the next one they put «Dunga Dunga»….

    1.    msx said

What about the kernel of the LTS?

The power handling is terrifying, my laptop's fan never stopped on 12.04, and the battery lasted as long as gas. Are you really asking me what's wrong with the kernel or is it for trolling?

I never had problems on any machine I installed it on, check your equipment.
