KDE 4.8 moves to the stable repository (Core)

After almost 3 months of testing, KDE 4.8 has been included in the stable repository (Core). As always, and especially on this occasion, it is recommended DO NOT USE Appset for this update, plus the following recommendations:

  • Read all the instructions issued by pacman carefully and answer «yes»To all package replacement questions.
  • After the update has completed successfully, reboot the system.

Now it only remains to wait for all the mirrors to be updated in order to have KDE 4.8 on their respective computers: D.

I currently use Kubuntu, but the direction it will take is not known, I think I will try Chakra but in a virtual PC to take control 😀

Definitely one of the best distros with kde, also they organized a survey for the software that includes the dvd nothing to do with canonical.

Sisas these people work a lot and it seems that Akabei is going to launch it this year according to them, and ChakraLinux 2012.02 if it can be installed from a usb with "LinuxLive USB Creator" maybe with unbooting You can't do anything even if you don't try ... I'm liking how they wear Qupzilla they made some small changes to their appearance and now it looks more minimalist, I like it.

Guys advertise this distro that I think is getting very underrated for the great work you do with it and how fluid it is.

Does it come with the included Codecs for an easier installation?

    1.    Courage said

Do not be lazy man no, it is as easy to install as others but it is quite simple.

Codecs are installed with a terminal line, or you install VLC that already brings them

I just upgraded Chakra to KDE 4.8 and the differences, in performance, speed, and behavior, are very visible. I really like the behavior of Dolphin. Well, I have a feeling that Chakra kicks in faster.

    1.    perseus said

Yes, the difference between KDE 4.7.4 and KDE 4.8 is phenomenal, the difference in performance is truly abysmal.

+1… I'm amazed, even elav recognizes that the performance has improved a lot 😀

I also second that, I who am using it on an Atom netbook with 1gb has me very impressed how well it works. Phenomenal.

Really? I one of the first desktop environments that I tried was KDE with Fedora 16 a long time ago and I loved it, but of course no adjustments or anything like that, it was not very fine, I have a netbook with 2gb of ram and a 1.86Ghz atom Well, I will dare to try it!

I really want to test it especially for the kernel version. The downside is that there is not a single torrent to download it.

        1.    Ozzar said

          If torrrents are available: http://www.chakra-linux.org/get/

There you select the version you want, the DVD (Full) or the CD (Minimal).

          Greetings.

Hello colleagues, I am very excited to install this OS, but I have a problem, and that is that I must deactivate nolapic.

Could you teach me how to do it, please? Well, slowly, if not, I get lost ... hehe

    Thanks in advance.

Hello colleagues, I installed Chakra in my old Dell Latitude D510 but I have a problem, when I install the driver of my wireles card, it is an ipw2200, it does not work for me, when reloading the module it recognizes the firmware, but I have to do it every time I restart my computer, if someone knows how to solve it I will appreciate it.

    1.    perseus said

have you tried including it in /etc/rc.conf?

    2.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

With what command do you load it manually?
Because if you put that command in /etc/rc.local… that's it, when I start the laptop it will load automatically 🙂
