Available Episode 2 of "Dead Cyborg"

Dead cyborg is an amazing first person adventure game. Independent and multiplatform, and free of charge, it is published in the form of episodes that are released once the donations and the time of its sole author allow it.

The Sci-Fi theme of this game, based on the well-known modeling and animation program Blender, is associated with the great Art-Work of its creator (part of which you can enjoy on its website). The story is structured in 3 episodes (the 3rd is already in 10% of its development), so if you like it, do not hesitate to financially support its creator. If you are not that type of people, at least cast a vote in Steam Greenlight so you can come up with a great game showcase.

To play it on GNU / Linux systems, it will be enough to unzip the downloadable folder from the website. Inside this folder, along with 4 different executables in .sh format, there is a 'readme' in which it explains possible dependencies that we might be missing, and we may have to install Blender for the game to work.

In principle, under my Ubuntu 12.10, I had to make two files executable:

  • start-game_pulseaudio.sh
  • data / blenderplayer-x86_64

By the comfortable way: right click on the file and mark the option "allow the file to run as a program".

Once we have made the .sh of our choice executable, double click and play. 😉

I can't make it run in mint 14 x64, it tells me that it lacks a library, that I can't download.

Have you read the README? It indicates the libraries that you may need.

With the command apt-cache search "libraryname" you get the name of the necessary package.

That name you use in the command apt-get install "packagename" 😉

This game is great. How is it possible that it looks so good and weighs so little?
