Debian is the most used distribution on web servers

A study by w3techs, shows that Debian GNU / Linux It is the most used distribution on the internet for web servers.

As the article says, Debian currently used by the 9.6% of the websites, (vs. 8,9% a year ago, and 8% two years ago) which is equivalent to 29,4% of all sites hosted on Linux. It is also the fastest growing operating system at the moment: every day 54 site out of 1 million switch to Debian.

The article also reflects that Nginx y lighttpd they are quite used with Debian (almost 60%); however, Apache It is still by far the most popular web server. By geographical location, Europe uses Debian the most on Web servers (led by Germany with a 39.7%) being less used in Asia, the USA and Canada.

The data are very interesting, especially if we take into account that other distributions such as RedHat o Suse, are specialists in the field of servers, even offering guaranteed support. All this only reaffirms me, that the prestige of Debian is well justified.

And by the way .. I went back to Debian.. 😛

    Hold on Debian! 🙂

Actually the curves of Debian and CentOS are very even.
But what really catches my attention are Ubuntu and Red Hat. The fall of one does not sound logical, nor the rise of the other.

Congratulations, welcome back to your Debian home, I knew that an intelligent man like you would return to his privileges, yesterday he casually asked me, what happens with elav is delaying his return too much? It is possible that for saying this he will receive some clubs from some mutual friend, hahahahaha.
Very good article, a few months ago I saw a list of large corporations, government offices and military that use servers with Linux that left me surprised.

Taking advantage of Oscar that you had access to that list. Without mentioning the name of any, were there many more institutions with Ubuntu Servers than Red Hat? It is that I find it difficult to believe that part of the information.

Hi Eduardo, unfortunately the article referred to Linux servers without specifying distributions. As for the differences between Red Hat and Ubuntu, it could be based on Marketing and the support they offer.

GGGGRRRR… that is, those of us who don't use Debian aren't smart? ¬_¬

HAHAHAHA, if you copy your partner you can get there.
By the way, what distro are you using?
Today Google is sabotaging my Gmail mail, it tells me that to see the complete mail I need a more modern browser like Chrome, my question did the war against Firefox start?

Did you do the test that I told you? Remember that you are using Iceweasel, not Firefox.

I can just see the mail, how do I install it on Debian?

          2.    Oscar said

Well elav I just installed Firefox 9.0.1 and the mail continues with the same message, I think I am correct in my assumption.

For gmail it is not worth abandoning the good old Iceweasel 😛

In that poster that appears he will tell you that if you want to try the traditional version or something like that. You click there and it will go to the normal version where everything will be fine and of course everything will work but as soon as you do something another poster will take you out repeating the same but different, on that poster you click ignore and the issue will be resolved; At least for a while, I guess the cookies expire or want to bother you again or something.

Thanks for the information, it worked, I assure you that I did not think to abandon Iceweasel, I just wanted to try, it caught my attention that for example in Midori it did not present that problem, I was already seriously thinking about another postal service, I am a guy who does not accept no type of pressure or blackmail to change my tastes or decisions.

Arch obviously ... I am very clear about which distro currently satisfies me completely, and there are many other distros that I would be willing to use before Debian 🙂

What we needed!!! you copied from Courage, he with Ubuntu and you with Debian, hahahahaha.

If this were an IRC it would put «/ I'm thinking of announcing the Official Troll # 3 of the site" ….. ha ha ha ha ha ha.
I don't hate Debian, just that I would use several other distros before it was time to use Debian.

The same thing happens to me as old Gaara, Debian is like a good blonde, a good distro but that's not what I'm looking for

            @Courage

Your answer is very sensible, I don't usually deny anyone, your decision is very normal in certain states of senility, hahahahaha.

    Regards,

For me it is now that I start in these journeys, according to what I have read and what I have seen, the distro that inspires the most respect is undoubtedly Debian.

I think I will never install a distribution that is not Debian or based on it, of course this is my position with respect to Debian.

    Thank you
