Debian prepares for Gnome3

Little by little in Debian Testing the packages that correspond to the current version of Gnome3, so we can prepare conditions to receive it completely in a very short time.

Gnome3 + Debian

Already next to Gnome 2.30 y 2.32 we have applications of Gnome3, between them gnome-terminal, Gnome-System-Monitor and some others, which have been gradually incorporated and integrated perfectly with the system.

This means that Debian will accept Gnome3 without thinking twice and without going back, so if you are a user of gnome 2.x and you do not agree with the change, you can run to install yourself Squeeze and leave it there for life, without updating it.

Personally I will have to resign myself. Though Gnome3 + Shell left a nice taste in my mouth, I still prefer the simplicity of gnome 2.3x. That is why I hope that in future versions Gnome FallBack has a greater prominence and is more polished, since it is the closest thing to gnome 2.x that we can find.

Gnome FallBack

Although not much is said about the subject, it would also be interesting to see if Xfce it goes to gtk3 at once, reducing its consumption a little and increasing its functionality, and then we would be talking about another excellent option to consider.

In short, Debian prepares to receive Gnome3 with open arms and here we will be waiting for you in desdelinux to tell you how we are doing 😀

Plus.

If we want to go testing Gnome3 en Debian completely, we are reckless and we are determined to accept that the system can be corrupted, because we add the repositories of Experimental. And once I did it and everything worked out wonderfully Good luck with that !!!

Gnome Shell

Therefore, do you think that LMDE users are affected in the same way? If so, I prefer to stay on Gnome 2.

Well, unless the Mint team forks Gnome2, I think so, we will be seriously affected.

It is probable. But so far I think that project is for Arch, if they take it to Debian we will all be happy too 😀

Don't try to sell me your masochism. What do you want, I have to enter a "new" package that will tear down your laptop. You don't know how much I will enjoy that day. 😛

Say what you want, right now I'm super happy with my Arch 😀

Eh in arch there is the Arch Rollback Machine, they are repositories with old packages, I have not tried it, but if it is in the archwiki it should work, I really don't know. But technically it would allow to install gnome 2.32

As you see here in the extra ARM repo of April 4 of the present
    http://arm.konnichi.com/2011/04/04/extra/os/x86_64/

There are the packages, it's just a matter of configuring pacman to work with them and placing the appropriate daemons and configuring as it should be. Something an average arch user should know how to do. I still have not needed to use these ARM repos

Fuck .. They don't have an Archiauto too, or an Archcave?

Negative. Only the day Debian disappoints me and I don't think that day will come .. KZKG's Laptop breaks first ^ Gaara 😀

          1.    Edward2 said

You have an obsession with breaking the poor man's laptop, well the day it inexplicably appears broken, you already have a way to report it hahahaha

          2.    elav <° Linux said

You would not understand. KZKG ^ Gaara can be without a girlfriend, without food (good about food I don't know), without water, without air .. But without a Laptop? That would be the end, the end, the Apocalypse .. 😀

          3.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

Yes, I can be without many things but without food and without a laptop, I kind of commit suicide in self-defense HAHAHAHAHA !!!!

And leave envy already ¬_¬ gggrrrr

You say you are bad at gymnastics, think about the body you will have if you don't eat hahaha.

Anyway with the Debian rolling release that they have released is a good competitor, but it is still not KISS, so a point against hahaha

elav you have to be a bad friend to go wanting those things, also something would have to happen that apart from the graphical server screw the terminal, so that it can not reverse the update. So far it has happened to me once, but it was my fault for messing with a kernel and abusing it. Archlinux is very flexible and gives you many options, but if you abuse the same as other distros you have to reinstall, although not as often as others, it passes.

    1.    elav <° Linux said

LOL I'm not a bad friend, I just want Arch to throw the laptop on the floor LOL
Na seriously, just kidding. Anyway I already made a couple of ACLs so that I can't update Arch but on weekends LOL and that way it doesn't take away the width of the U_U side

      1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

HAHAHAHA yes yes of course ... you forget that I know what ACLs are, and that I have access to the same server 😉

Those who don't know us think that we hate each other, HAHAHA !!!
