Fortunately, Linux is an operating system that has allowed numerous developments to help those with some type of disability. On this occasion, I found it interesting to share with you the existence of Dots. It is a tool to convert text files into a braille representation so that it can be printed on a printer with support for ASCII Braille. |
Dots main features
- Transcription of ODT, HTML and PDF documents.
- Output format (cells x line, lines x page, etc.)
- Editing of the transcribed tables.
- Printing on printers with support for ASCII Braille.
Hello I am learning to use dots, I have no problem when importing html or txt files, but if I have them when importing pdf or odt files, they could help me, since it throws a lot of garbage when importing it. please
Uyy ... the truth is that I just tried the program ... there far and long ago. However, one thing you can try is to open the odt or pdf with LibreOffice and from there save it as html or txt (depending on which one suits you best). Once done, try opening it with Dots.
Greetings and I hope I have been of some use! Paul.
Thank you very much for answering, I will try to do it like this = D ...
Hopefully it gives me better results THANKS !!!
Hello, sorry for the inconvenience, but taking advantage of your kindness, do you have knowledge of other programs for people with visual disabilities ???
I'm learning to use orca, the screen reader, but maybe you have an idea of another program that will be useful to me
Beforehand thank you very much. Liz
Hi Lisi!
Look, there are several blog posts about programs for the visually impaired and otherwise.
I leave you some links for you to look at (but there is more… it's a matter of searching the blog entries):
