It has been three months since version 2.3.0 of SystemRescueCD made appearance.
This distro is based on the LiveCD of Gentoouse Xfce as a desktop environment and it is really useful, as it brings tools to manage or repair our OS, recover lost information and more 😀
It supports the following file systems: Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS, VFAT, NTFS, ISO9660 and Btrfs.
This new version (2.4.0) brings as standard kernel or by default Linux v3.0.8, while it also offers us the possibility of using another version of the kernel (Linux v3.1.0). An important detail is that there is NO longer support for reiser4 in any of these kernels.
This new version also brings us the GParted version 0.10.0 (Gnome Partition Editor), X.org Server version 1.10.4, and Firefox 7.0.1.
The complete and detailed list of changes can be read in the Changelog.
This new version weighs 366MB, I leave the link to the download page: Download SystemRescueCD
Anyway, a very useful tool when it comes to saving our shattered system 😀
