Few ago The launch of the new version of EndeavorOS 23.11 was announced codenamed "Galileo", a version in which a series of important changes stand out, such as the replacement of XFCE with KDE Plasma as the default environment, the elimination of community editions in the installer and other changes.

For those who do not know about EndeavorOS, you should know this It is a distribution that replaced the Antergos distribution, whose development was discontinued in May 2019 due to the remaining maintainers' lack of free time to keep the project at the proper level.

Main new features of EndeavorOS 23.11 “Galileo”

In this new version, which is presented from EndeavorOS 23.11 "Galileo",  It arrives based on the Linux Kernel 6.6.1, along with graphics stack mesa 1:23.2.1-2, xorg 21.1.9-1.

Regarding the most relevant changes, the replacement of Xfce with KDE Plasma, which is included by default in offline desktop installations. This modification responds to the intention of simplifying both development and maintenance, but for those users who do not want to work with KDE, in the online installation mode, the possibility of choosing any other user environment is offered. Additionally, for those who are familiar with the layout of Xfce but prefer KDE, there is the option to select a stylized layout theme that emulates the look and feel of Xfce.

Another change that stands out is removing options to install community editions (unofficial) as an installation option. The Sway, Qtile, BSPWM, Openbox and Worm editions are no longer available through the Calamares installer, as it is mentioned that most of the original developers abandoned the project and there is no one to continue them to make them work with each update of Squids.
