Evolution of the KZKG ^ Gaara desktop in these 4 years using Linux

I recently turned 4 years old using 100% Linux, that is, without depending on or needing Windows for my daily tasks.

In all this time my tastes have obviously changed, I have been learning new tricks / tips, and this has led to my desktop having varied a lot from the beginning.

Initially I used KDE 3.5, but I don't save screenshots from that time of mine (just one I show below), then after several months I started using Gnome (v2), and there I began to learn about tuning my desktop.

October 7, 2008 (Kubuntu with KDE 3.5)

February 18, 2009 (Ubuntu with Gnome2)

February 27, 2009 (Ubuntu with Gnome2 + w bar + Conky)

April 8, 2009 (Ubuntu with Gnome2 + w bar + Conky + icon pack)

December 16, 2009 (Ubuntu with Gnome2 + w bar + conky (with icons))

March 15, 2010 (Kubuntu with KDE 4.3 (testing only) + cairo-dock + widgets)

July 29, 2010 (Ubuntu Lucid with Gnome2 + cairo-dock + conky)

October 5, 2010 (Ubuntu Maverick with Gnome2 + cairo-dock + conky)

October 25, 2010 (Ubuntu Maverick with Gnome2 + cairo-dock + conky + covergloobus)

December 17, 2011 (Ubuntu with Gnome2 + cairo-dock + conky (improved))

Then in the 2011 I spent it with this same desktop design ... quite loaded as come hehe

Already in the 2012 I just used KDE and quit Gnome. Here (January-2012) come to ArchLinux + KDE4 + rainlendar2

December 17, 2011 (Debian Testing with KDE4 + panel + rainlendar2

Anyway.

How much my desk has changed and matured ... at the same time that I have.

Some time ago I used Linux because it was just cool, because I learned a lot of new things every day, and above all to show the rest of the world that Linux could easily outperform any version of Windows, and not only in terms of security and stability, but also also in terms of appearance.

Today I use Linux because it is incredibly stable, it is as productive as no Windows could ever be, so I don't change the appearance every month anymore hahaha.

Well ... tell me, do you keep screenshots of you out there? 😀

Do you share them with us here?

regards

PD: I omitted many screenshots because they were too similar to the ones I put in, that is, only the wallpaper changed.

I see that you have gone from well loaded desks or other more minimalist ones. I suppose that over time we learn that functionality is not always in having a thousand gadgets on the desktop, hehe.

By the way, I love all those wallpapers. EVERYONE.

I still have not been able to release Windows, because I need Access to administer the database of the institute where I work. but only for that I use Win. for everything else, there is Linux.

I adhere to what Yoyo says, but I prefer to say that they do not correspond to my tastes.

If Courage was there, I would have told him Ubuntoso.
But thanks to Ubuntu, many of us are on Linux.
As for the images in likes, there are no dislikes, our desk is a very personal stamp, so I will not comment.

    1.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

HAHAHA Courage can call me whatever you want, but surely you wouldn't call me Ubuntoso hehe.

      1.    Diego said

Surely not, I would have said SuperUbuntoso, three years with Ubuntu

HAHA it wasn't 3 years in a row, I tried Debian Testing for a little season too, but ended up not liking it, and then I used ArchLinux for quite a while.
And among all that, I have tried several distros like Centos, I vaguely tried openSUSE, Slitaz, Puppy, and some that I do not remember 🙂

What Happened to Courage? I miss the counterpoint to your comments.

These days he must be very nice, because he is on vacation with no one to bother him hehe.
On the blog side, he didn't feel comfortable here.

Who would have thought that a few years ago it came out of your mouth that Windows was the best eh, how things change.
Congratulations my sister, keep it up and hopefully one day I have the strength and get fully into the Linux world.

It would be good to put together a timeline with screenshots, it had not occurred to me, and when 10 more years have passed and the kernel 19.0 with XFCE 22.2 is already in holographic version with mental shells (and of course NOBODY or even remembers Guin2) to be able to say then :

Do you remember when we started with linux ??… .what those times !!! 🙂

Gaara friend, I have been trying to configure conky a little to my liking from the tutorial that he put a few years ago on his blog, here I send you how I made it but after the logo there is a very large space until the CPU line, the logo I replaced it with one that they put in the comments and that I thought was very good for my taste and I wanted to be able to correct so much space between texts. I am now entering the world of Linux and I want to learn, below is everything related to that script, also look at the mail that the image of the envelope does not appear, only a large B and having 3 emails in the mailbox None appears, I also included a line for gMail as suggested and it doesn't work for me either. The data of the emails are not posted for security but I followed all the steps as explained:

Wao, very "cool" ... Too bad I still can't use docks or anything like that and my Ubuntu desktop doesn't save it, but it's like everyone else, I never modified it ... I want to share my first desktop in Kubuntu: -> http://i.imgur.com/Jm7pos.jpg And how is it currently, although to be honest I like my first desktop more even though the background of the current one I did 😀 (this is the current one: http://i.imgur.com/Jm7po.jpg )

By the way, where do you get such good icons?
