Firefox Logo

Firefox is a popular web browser

The new version of Firefox 106 is now available and in this new version one of the new things Mozilla is pushing is la ability to add a new private browsing shortcut button that you can pin to the desktop so you can quickly switch to private browsing mode whenever the user wants. The editor also talk about Firefox View, a useful feature that will allow you to open recently closed tabs without having to review your browsing history.

To be more specific, when syncing with mobile devices, the last three active tabs will be displayed that were opened on the other devices. Firefox View also allows you to apply colors to dress up Firefox and change its appearance. Firefox View is thus divided into three categories: Tab Recovery, Recently Closed, and Independent Voices.

Another change that we can find in this new version, it is for those who install or run Firefox for the first time, since Firefox 106 introduces a new splash screen to help the user configure the browser website according to your needs. The new welcome screen allows you to set Firefox as your default browser, import elements from a previous installation or another web browser, choose a default color scheme, and install Firefox on a mobile device using a QR code.

In addition, On Windows 10 and Windows 11, Firefox 106 now allows you to pin incognito windows to the taskbar, In addition, private browsing windows are entitled to a cosmetic touch-up and the default dark theme.

the color palettes "Colorways" to customize the interface are available in this release. These are themes that can then be modified in the “Extensions and Themes” section of the settings. These color palettes are available until January 17.

The built-in Javascript-based PDF viewer has been updated, so there is less need to rely on a local PDF viewer with these features. Now the viewer also supports PDF document annotation, meaning you'll be able to add text directly to a PDF (in a choice of colors, size, line thickness, opacity, etc.), drawings, or signatures, and then save the PDF file locally with these new additions. A side effect is that you can display comments on PDF files, which third-party PDF readers often have trouble with.

On macOS, Firefox now offers text recognition to quickly extract what is written on an image.

In addition to that, Firefox 106 also brings important changes in WebRTC to improve Windows and Wayland screen sharing, RTP performance and reliability, statistics, and more. There are also the usual bug and security fixes to make Firefox more stable and reliable on your system.

It is also highlighted that in android version now show synced tabs on home page, added new background images to the Independent Voices collection, and fixed bugs that cause crashes, such as selecting the time in a web form or opening about 30 tabs.
