Firefox 11 available!

Firefox 11 it is finally officially available. The latest version of the browser Mozilla includes new tools for developers, synchronization de Extensions and the expected protocol support SPDY.

The first novelty for the end user is the possibility of importing bookmarks, history, cookies and other data from Google Chrome (previously it was only possible from Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari). To do this, we must first open the "Catalog" window (where the bookmarks and history are), and there select "Import and backup" Import data from another browser ", as we can see in the following image.

With the arrival of Firefox 11, there is also the possibility of synchronizing the extensions installed in the browser through Add-on Sync, which allows, for example, that when installing a new add-on in the browser we use at home, it is synchronized automatically with the one we use at work.

For developers

  • New CSS Style Editor, allows editing of CSS code, while we appreciate the changes as we introduce them. This tool, in addition to its simple and pleasant interface, includes an option to export a file with the changes made.
  • 3D visualization of the elements of a web page (integrated Tilt plugin).
  • Support for the text-size-adjust property of CSS.
  • The code viewer now uses the HTML5 parser for syntax highlighting.
  • Support for the outerHTML property in HTML elements.
  • Support for the SPDY protocol (an improved version of HTTP, created by Google) that allows faster loading of web pages (like Gmail, and recently Twitter). A detail! This option is disabled by default, so if you want to start enjoying SPDY, go to about: config, search for network.http.spdy.enabled and change its value to true.
  • Support for HTML parsing in XMLHttpRequest.
  • Files can now be stored in IndexedDB.
  • Websockets now do not require prefixes when called.
  • Redesigned controls for HTML5 video.

I just installed it 5 minutes before stopping by :).

I did not know about the alternative protocol SPDY, right now I know it hehee.

What if it still lacks some HTML5 support, because a week ago just out of curiosity, I tried it on this page html5test.com, and it showed some 320 or 330 points and now back jejjee 320. The one who «has been winning» is Chromium / Chome, but I don't like it. Anyway I clarify that I am not demanding with the standards jhejee, but I was curious because YouTube told me "your browser does not support HTML5 .." in certain videos, and all because of the support of H.264 !! and for my part I no longer want to use Flash! hahaha: D.

Exact. The "lack of support" has to do with H264, fundamentally. But this is due to a deliberate decision, as Mozilla said that it would not implement H264.
      Cheers! Paul.

Let's give it a try, although I've been doing great with Chronium.
