At Mozilla Blog Johnathan Nightingale has made the news official that Firefox 11 delayed its launch and therefore we must wait a few more days.
Every six weeks, another Firefox train leaves the station. This week we will release another update, but not on Tuesday as we typically do. There are two reasons for this:
- This Tuesday is Microsoft's scheduled monthly update to Windows, and those updates have interacted badly with our updates before. We don't have reason to expect specific problems with this month's updates, but we'd rather take a day or two to understand the impact before we update all of our users.
- We're also waiting for a report from ZDI about a security vulnerability that may affect this new version of Firefox. We expect to receive the report by end of day Monday. Once we can evaluate the vulnerability, we'll know whether we need to include a fix in Firefox before the update is released.
We'll update our post here once the latest version of Firefox is available to the world. In the meantime, if you want to get an advance peek at what's coming in future versions of Firefox, check out one of our early release channels.
In other words, the delay is basically due to two reasons:
- That Microsoft today releases an update for Windows in which Firefox it could be affected.
- They are waiting for a security report from ZDI, by which they will see if they have to update the browser code, so as not to launch version 11 today and that in less than two days, it needs a new update.
The funny thing about this is that from Mozilla's FTP if you can download version 11:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/11.0/linux-i686/es-ES/firefox-11.0.tar.bz2
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/11.0/linux-x86_64/es-ES/firefox-11.0.tar.bz2
WTF?
It has always been possible to download 3 or 4 days in advance, but officially it is as if it was not there.
Yes, but the problem is, according to the article on the Mozilla blog, it remains to be seen if the update with M $ does not cause problems and if the security report shows that everything is fine ..
I shit on the microsoft ones…. Now let's wait for the fucking patch to come out ... anyway I'm going to download the one that @elav put to try it hehe
I am already testing it in fact and as I said in my other post, it is nothing that invites me to shoot rockets 😀
I do not know why firefox has become an acute versionitis lately, it is becoming annoying, at this rate they will reach 100, I prefer a softer update, the update becomes annoying.
Thanks to chrome marketing and people who only see version numbers.
That's why I better put ddg.gg as the home page, I hate that advertisement that says install chrome.
I think I remember something similar with slackware that I change from version 4 to 7, so as not to look like an old system with the other linux distros,
Thanks to Chrome and not Google, nobody forced Mozilla to do anything, everyone is responsible for their actions. If Pedrito throws himself down a ravine, it won't be Juanito's fault because he jumped first and Pedrito had to imitate him.
Besides, they are VERY different cases. Chrome does not advertise or display its numbers or flaunt its version releases. And for more INRI its updates go unnoticed by users because they are less than non-intrusive. It's like Pedrito jumped and killed himself on the ground while Juanito jumped with a parachute onto an air mattress.
Well, I'm already with firefox 11 and I don't see anything again lol…. in fact, it didn't come with the chrome skin…. : P, that is to say, it is good with the Tango theme updated from March 12th, I only have to download the theme manually.
The new look is for firefox 13, I understand that.
